Beauty Blender Sponge

Does anyone use a beauty blender sponge for your foundation and how do you like it. Are there any good dups for it that are cheaper. I was reading that this is a better way to apply foundation if you have dry skin because the brushes are usually exfoliating your skin when you apply foundation.
