I wear my hair shoulder length with bangs. Im going to get it trimmed again this week and wondered what I can say to the stylist about trimming my bangs! She razor cut them last time and it was horrible. Toooo short and looked so stupid lol.

Seemed to take 2 weeks to look normal. I don't want razor cut bangs but I don't want thick heavy bangs. I have no clue what to tell her so she can finally get the cut right! Any ideas please?!

Tell her to cut them dry so you get an accurate length - they shrink when cut wet. Also, if you don't want a true blunt cut, ask her to "tip" the ends - different stylists have different names for that, but it basically means she cuts it to the length you want, they takes the point of the scissors and goes back through the ends with the scissors at an angle and cuts little points softening the edge.

Thank you!!! That sounds like a great tip. I like her a lot as a stylist but have been unhappy more than once with the bangs and even the cut. I get the rest of my hair in long layers. I will def give this a try as far as the bangs!!!

Your welcome. Nothing's more frustrating than short bangs - I've had my share, but finally learned to ask them to cut them dry or almost dry. Makes a big difference. Hope it works for you.

I agree with Okiebug! I always have my bangs trimmed while completely dry...no short bangs!

Great advice, okie!

I wear bangs and that's how my daughter does them for me...dry hair, get the length right, and then go back and point cut.

Take a picture of how you'd like your bangs to look. There are a lot of varieties of bangs--wispy, full, side swept, longer, blunt, etc. Instead of leaving your stylist guessing as to what you want, show her. A picture is worth 1000 words.

Tell her to texturize your bangs without a razor. And show her with your hand exactly how long you want to bangs to be. Let her know you didn't like them last time. Most stylists would rather you tell them what they do right as well as wrong.
