Re: BIG NEWS: I COLORED MY GREY HAIR!!!

Seems like there is a lot of judging toward women who don't want to go gray. What's the big deal? It's a personal choice. I know people who color their hair and others who are grey.

For the record, I'm in my 60s, and I highlight my hair to mask some greys. I will probably give it up eventually, but not right now. My choice.

Yep, that’s why a lot of us including me go blonde, grey not flattering and no real roots.

I color my hair. You have to look in the mirror and like what you see. I am not a fan of seeing gray hair on myself and choose to color it.

Feeling confident and comfortable with yourself is what matters to me.

I say do what makes you feel your best.

Re: BIG NEWS: I COLORED MY GREY HAIR!!!

Thanks @Carmie . This photo came out much better. I was getting highlights or lowlights (confused which is which) this darker color woven in all over for awhile, but just a bit and still didn't give me the dimension and contrast I needed. I feel more like myself this way since still grey "strands" running through. I assume that so far, the root growth is barely visible and upkeep will not be too often.

It's OK to go all grey if someone wants to and then change their mind...stay all grey, dye it all over or alter the color in some way. Personal choice always.

I agree.  I stopped coloring when I was 50.  My hair color is very similar to the picture you posted with a little more silver.

I colored and cut my daughter's hair yesterday and my youngest son colors his hair.  His hair color is like Alberti, but he isn't ready to go natural yet.

I stopped coloring because my hair grows fast.  In three weeks, my gray was grown out an inch already.  It was difficult to keep up with it.

That response that shows up in every hair color thread about not "fooling anyone" always baffles me.  Is looking better "fooling" someone?  I don't get it.  If it looks better on you and you want to do it, go for it.  It feels great to look great!

ITA ....  As if that "not fooling anyone" comment isn't bad enough, then comes the oh so self-righteous "are you aging gracefully" comment.

Women wear makeup and color their hair for any number of reasons ... at every age.   So what?

I cannot dye my hair because my hair is dye resistant. I have colored my hair in the past and the color just slides off the white hair. I get compliments on my hair. People think that the white hair highlights are intentional.

@lgfan

I've had women stop me to ask who colors my hair.  No one, and I'm glad I don't have to pay someone to do that anymore.

In all fairness to all women everywhere, NOT ALL GREYS ARE CREATED EQUAL.   Some grey/white hair can be very flattering ... others, not so much.

Im sorry you feel that way.  For instance I think YouTuber Nikol Johnson, age 49 is stunning.

I think the cut and care of gray hair can be beautiful, wacky or

Youtful this is one of her conservative looks

I think her hair is very nice, but her makeup is truly awful.  She looks a lot older than 49!
