i DVR'd Chaz's last show and he introduced BGT w/ rice protein. Is there a difference between this and the BGT sold in the past?

No, the BGT is just the start of the new line at a higher price which Chaz warned us about last summer.

Read through the ingredients and count how far down rice is. To say this is ""rice-based"" is a bit of a stretch.
