BEEKMAN NEW SCENTS review...

[ Edited ]

Ordered all 3 goat totes; Pure is a staple in my house but the Madarin and Plumeria are new.

Mandarin Thyme: Fail.  Can smell the madarin orange and it's a delight but the Thyme ruined it. Smells like a mans' cologne/house cleaner. No one, not even the menfolk in my house, like it. This will be gifted and AS cancelled.

Plumeria Butterfly: VERY sweet. First sniff reminded me of those Kool-aid packages when we would open them as kids to make punch in the summer time. Too sweet, really, so this too is a fail and AS will be cancelled. I had very high hopes for the Plumeria as it's one of my most favorite floral scents next to honeysuckle. So sad.

*UPDATE*  No one I offered these to wanted them due to their scent. So, both TS's AND the 3 bars of soap I ordered in these scents are all shipping back to HSN. What a waste of money this was Smiley Sad

Re: BEEKMAN NEW SCENTS review...

@FiddleDeeDee - thank you for your review & impressions. Unfortunately, a disappointment for you which is not good for customer retention.

I feel that both Beekman and Korres new scents have a 'forced upon them' schedule from Q and H, rather than an allowing for an 'organic' process. New fragrances are likely to create a spike in sales rather than offering a vault scent and they rarely include an established customer favorite. But I'm hesitant now to buy the new scents since they haven't wowed me.

It would be nice if they offered us an opportunity to vote for a vault or favorite scent that could be included in the TS or TSV offerings.

@Chi-town girl   I will tell you that I have found that the Beekman Boys have a very specific "taste" when it comes to scents. The Doc loves floral/sweet scents. Josh loves the aftershave/bug spray scent; have never liked any scent he has suggested since I've been buying the soap.

I hesitate to review because, as we've mentioned before, scent is so personal. After that Tweak'd shampoo drama, lol, (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cherry On Top scent), I wonder if my nose is just that off. Then again, none of my household cared for the Mandarin (which is who I purchased it for, being honest) and that Plumeria is headache inducing being so sickening sweel.

There are so many really GOOD scents around I just don't understand how so many of their scents can smell so freaking bad; what are they thinking when it comes to the scent combo? Mandarin and Thyme? Why THAT combo instead of say Mandarin and ginger or Mandarin and honey or Mandarin, Tangerine and Amber or mild clove?

In any event, hope everyone else LOVES the new scents!!

@FiddleDeeDee - interesting comment about Josh and Dr Brent's taste or preferences in scent. I think there was a shift when they moved the business to HSN after leaving ShopHQ.

And you're right, fragrance is very personal, but we should still post/share our experiences.

Maybe the higher volume of customers combined with meeting requirements of events to support Q and H caused a shift in how they source raw goods and scents? However, I LOVE the Lily of the Valley they offered at H and now it's gone after just 1 production run.

I don't feel compelled to keep trying new scents, and it seems like there is not the same excitement as in the past for their TS offerings. Lower sales + returns might force them to listen to customer requests

@FiddleDeeDee - regarding the Tweak'd Cherry on Top - does it smell like cherries/cupcake?

I'm keeping what I ordered but not sure I will reorder.

I LOVE the Tulipia - did you purchase it?

@Chi-town girl  No, it smells nothing like cherries or cupcake. On occasion I'll get a whiff of almond. Have to say it's much silkier than the Original and it appears to hydrate my hair a bit more. The scent is clean, fresh, just elegant salon without being cloying or sickening sweet. It's a very rich, gorgeous scent that my hair appears to love. Thrilled I purchased it on AS. I always do AS just in case the product is a winner.

I have NOT tried Tulipia but what I've read about the scent intrigues me.

@FiddleDeeDee - the Cherry On Top scent is rumored to be based on the Tom Ford Lost Cherry perfume. I have not tested it.

Does this description also apply to the Tweak'd Cherry?

Fragrance Description: Lost Cherry's candy-like gleam of exotic black cherry and liqueur touched with teasing almond gives way to a Turkish rose and jasmine sambac blend that penetrates the senses. The full-bodied perfume attains fantasy-like levels of insatiability

Perhaps the sale of a majority of the company has something to do with it.

@Chi-town girl  Not in any way. Smiley Sad    I've smelled the TF scent and it reminds me of a Shirley Temple with a sweeter note and almond (which is a nice smell if you want a sweet drink but I don't want that kind of sickening sweet scent as my adult scent). I know there are many women who like that very very sweet gourmand/candy smell as perfume so this definitely fits into that range. Tweak'd COT smells nothing like that and yet, it smells so good.

Re: BEEKMAN NEW SCENTS review...

Thank you for your review @FiddleDeeDee . I did not buy the TS because I'm sick of trying new scents and either not liking them at all, or liking them and then they are no longer available. It's bordering on ridiculous that every time Beekman has an appearance on HSN or QVC they have a new scent.

I would have ordered the TS if they had offered it in one of their tried and true scents. Honeyed Grapefruit, Fig Leaf, Vanilla, etc. Offering new scents and not old favorites  might attract some people, but it really alienates their "neighbors" that love the brand!
