The Today's Special is 4 LORAC lipsticks and 4 LORAC lip glosses for $42, which is a great bargain. But Morrison keeps saying you buy 2 lipsticks at $18 each and you get 2 lipsticks and 4 lip glosses free. 18 x 2 = 36, not 42! So essentially, you are buying 2 and 1/3 lipsticks.

HSN hosts always round up or round down; whatever makes it sound like the better deal. Not sure if it's done on purpose or if it's ignorance.

OP: Just wondering...did you mean to post this on HSN'S forums?

HSN has practically no community at all, and I know many ladies shop there if they have a beauty special.

I don't see what the big deal is. She's generalizing. Lots of hosts on all the shopping channels do it, to make their price look more attractive. Sales people IRL do it too. Viewers are smart enough to catch it and decide if they want to purchase or not.

Even though all the salesfolks are doing this increasingly she's the worst for making the easy pays sound like the entire price. Just about every product.

Seriously? Since I'm not perfect I don't expect others to be perfect either.

These shows are written for the show hosts and they are given cards with things to say and they also make their own notes on the cards. On top of that, there is a producer in their ear feeding them information to say.
I have seen this set presented by 3 different hosts and all 3 are repeating that exact same thing and I doubt all of them are awful at math. My guess is, this is either written for them or they are being told to say it by the producer.
I guess it's close enough. And besides, who buys 1/3 of a tube of lipstick or gloss. So to say that doesn't really make sense.

I am not interested in this TSV, but I saw a bit of the presentation. If you want facts and deep data and truth...Amy is not the one. She seems super duper sweet, but she is not the brightest bulb in the room. I think $42 vs. $36 is a bit of difference--that's more than 15%.
