Re: ANY MAKEUP QUESTIONS FOR ME?

I just watched a short Wayne Goss video about just putting a concealer in the corner of your eye to brighten as opposed to under the eye. The video made a lot of sense. I was just wondering if you do this what color concealer would you use, the same as if you were using under eye concealer. Thanks for your time and expertise.

Re: ANY MAKEUP QUESTIONS FOR ME?

Hi Shanus, blush......I d tried to use blush with a blog fluffy brush,  ircling the apples of my cheeks and it still looks off. How do I purchase a translucent type blush (not so much pigment that it looks fake), and how to apply it? Thank you!

YES YES YES!  I've been waiting for this.  I had a small spot on my nose----it was "frozen" off several times, then biopsied and shaved/cut off.  It was not cancer. Now the scar is a terrible brown  place about the size of half a dime.  I own probably 25 concealers---none will cover---at least not for any length of time.  I googled and found orange on top of brown covered with concealer helps better than anything.  I found some long lasting orange lipstick in my drawer and cover with concealer---it does a "tad" bit better.  Oh, i have also tried lasering---at $100 a pop and not guarenteed---I am not financialy able to give this a try.  Any thoughts please?????  Thank you so very much!!

@pietook   Have you tried DERMABLEND w/ it's setting powder? I'd cover a third arm. If you want another alternative, try a "corrector", usually a peach tone. PIXIE at the drugstore makes a great one or most lines have one now. Once the brown is neutralized, you need much much less concealer.

I have a Dermablend stick---and use a setting powder that came with a Mally concealer.  Does orange tone neutralize the brown?  Or another color???  Thank you!

@Janey2   If it's the same video I watched, he showed various ways to use concealer depending on the look you want.

The darker area in the corner of the eye next to the nose is a place corrector goes first and then concealer if it's very dark. For a natural look you can place concealer in a shade lighter than foundation in that area and and go a little further, but not a half moon under the eye.

When I do a full makeup look on myself or others, I use a lightweight concealer (my favorite is Nars Creamy Concealer) and place it in an inverted triangle under the eyes, down next to the nose. Blend well. The center of the face remains bright and youthful. Foundation is not needed over it.

I always work with several shades of concealer...one a shade lighter than complexion for under the eye area and one the color of your foundation to cover blemishes or "sun spots". I also use more than one shade of foundation since no ones face is the same shade all over. Watch Gucci Westman's videos for using 2 or 3 foundation sticks to get a natural look.

I have some time to answer questions. Any areas of makeup a problem for you?

I've always had barely there brows and eyelashes.  Now, in my 50's, they seem even worse.  I've considered tinting but scared to do it because of the bad stories I've heard/read.  Also, the up keep.  I've tried so many products...pencils, gels, etc.  Right now I'm using (trying) Benefits Gimme Brow and it's supposed to gradually tint too.  My problem is nothing seems to be "the one" and I live in area with terrible heat and humidity that nothing, and I mean nothing, stays on.  Even if it says waterproof/smudgeproof.  What can I do?

@Effie54   Many women have an issue with blush. I've had women jerk out of my chair when I get to blush and say they don't want any. Huh? It's a necessary step if done correctly.

Color is a big issue. Too light and it's not worth it, too bright and you look like my Aunt Fanny. I prefer cream blush tapped on with fingers. Leave a space of at least 2 fingers next to the the nose to begin your blush. Sweep it from the temple area FIRST and then towards your cheek. That way most of the color is deposited away from the cheek area and appears more like a natural flush. I've found that starting on the cheek is too much blush.

It has been taught to put blush on the apples of the cheek, but as we age, the apples can be high when we smile and then lower when we go back to a resting face and the blush is way too low. Try that experiment holding a finger on your apples smiling and then see where your finger is when you're not smiling.

If you have an issue w/ cream blush staying in place, you can lightly set it with a powder blush of the same shade. I also like placing a little blush above the eye crease to give an all over blended look.

@pietook   Most darkness...undereyes or brown spots can be corrected with a peach tone, not orange. You're welcome.

Re: ANY MAKEUP QUESTIONS FOR ME?

What is the trick to "dry" the bottom lid to tight line?  I use Urban Decay pencils and I can sort of get them to work but find lining the bottom difficult because of the dampness.
