A question about concealer

[ Edited ]

I heard Dr Doris say that we dont need a concealer product-and she mentioned how we try to go a couple of shades lighter- she stated that our foundation makeup should do that job. That it should be the right match. She demonstrated with her tsv foundation stick.

What do you you think of that?

Re: A question about concealer

Since I've never found a concealer that worked for me (tried many, all brands/prices), I tend to agree with her!

I gave up on concealers many years ago, and honestly can't tell a difference. If I feel something needs a bit more coverage, I'll blend in a teeny bit more foundation.

I don't, however, have very dark circles, or acne scarring to cover...just a few light brown spots (which don't really bother me if they show) and some broken capillaries.

I used to always prefer a shade of under eye concealer lighter than my foundation until a few years ago. Age has changed the way I apply makeup and the products I use. I agree with Doris at this time of my life, I'm in my late 60s.

Re: A question about concealer

I only use a concealer for spots on my face. I don't use one for my under-eyes and prefer foundation there.

@smoochy  - I didn't get the same impression as you.  She said with her foundation stick we don't need a separate concealer but she didn't - as far as I remember - say that generally one doesn't need concealer.  I understood it to be that she was only talking about her foundation stick.  She sells a few concealers in her line.

Re: A question about concealer

when i use concealer under my eyes, it highlights the bags. Ugh. A light shade, especially pink, in the dark inner corners is better. Im going to try bringing my foundation up to the lower lid and see how it looks.

Re: A question about concealer

I've always used undereye concealer but never was thrilled with the results.  I recently purchased the Tarte CC under eye corrector on QVC and it's the best one I've ever used. I, personally, feel under eye concealer is a good thing if you can find the right one

Re: A question about concealer

Doris makes several different concealers, I like them all, I spot treat including for redness under my eyes, I am a med in foundation and use concealers in medium, I find her shades run a little light Doesnt Laura also say to not go lighter for under the eyes?

Re: A question about concealer

Are you interested in actually REDUCING your dark circles?

There are two ingredients that do this:    Eyeliss® and Haloxyl®, made by the French company Sederma®...and are ingredients in several eye creams.

This is NOT an overnight wonder...it takes a few weeks to even months to correct your circles...

I use TIMELESS® brand...but you can search for others.

Re: A question about concealer

Both Eyeliss and Haloxyl have been around for years, and found in many eye creams, nothing new but still being used. Must still be considered to be effective
