I can't figure this one out -  I don't watch or use WEN but have clicked on the Q over the years to see what's going on.  Again today - Maria (the older blond) was in the chair and Chaz (again) said .......since "X" years ago Maria has not had to color her hair again since using WEN, except for root touch-ups.

OKAY - I high-light my hair too BUT after a couple of cuttings my fake color is gone - hair grows - and color gets cut off with the hair.....then it's time for another color appointment.  Doesn't Maria's hair grow out and eventually the color goes with it?

If Chaz says so, some will believe it and others will not. Depends on how you feel about WEN.  I don't think hair changes colors on its' own. You have to tweek it somehow. Just MHO.

Hi @fthunt! He actually is saying that she no longer adds highlights to her all over color. Using Wen allows the natural highs and lows that are in her grey, then covered over with blonde, to shine through. Therefore, he no longer adds additional highlights to compliment the all over color.

I hope that helps!

Chaz is talking about running color through the entire length of her hair. They of course color their roots as they grow in. That is what "root touch ups" refers to.

I color my hair at home. I dye it blonde, but my natural color is brown with about 40% gray. My hair color used to change so badly (before WEN)  between dye jobs it was ridiculous. I would dye it dark ash blonde, the color would fade out to a very light blonde before the next time I colored. Then when I colored again (dark ash blonde, again) my friends and coworkers asked me why I had dyed it a different color, it was so much darker, yada yada...... it was fading so much between colorings. I was tired of not knowing what color my hair was going to be from week to week. Sad.

Now that I use WEN, my hair is always the SAME color, whether I just colored my hair or not. I usually just do my roots....but if I do a root to tip color, the shade is the same, which is telling me my hair is not getting lighter (washed out) between colorings.

So. For me WEN is helping my color and the condition of my hair. Why so many people question the truth of that boggles my mind. I think Chaz does a great job explaining himself. It really isn't confusing.

@Wen_Woman.  I am 72 and have been using WEN 7+ years.  My hair is in the best shape it has ever been.  Everything that you said could have been said by me.  I love all of my WEN products.

As was already posted, he's just saying that they don't run color through the length of her hair. Nor do they highlight it anymore. I also don't run color through my ends.

I'm a few weeks shy of my 4-year WEN anniversary. I also happen to be a redhead. As any redhead knows, it is a difficult color to maintain. I live on the beach, am in the sun and ocean frequently and do "baby" my hair with WEN. I get my color done every 7 weeks and my hairdresser does have to pull it through....period. When I go in for color, my hair has definitely faded from the bold red it started out as7 weeks prior. I've been a redhead for 20 years, gone through many hairdressers who have used great color lines (including L'OrĂ©al Majarel that Chaz uses...great brand by the way!) and I have ALWAYS had to have the red pulled through, regardless of hair length, or brand of color used, even back in my poo days. There are a lot of factors that play into hair color fading.  I would love for my bold red hair color to stay BOLD for the entire 7 weeks in between appointments, but it doesn't, never has, and that is okay by me. My hair is most definitely healthier and in better shape with WEN.

I am a natural blond gal. I am 66 & my grey hair is not grey--it is a yellowish white color. After using WEN I think it lightens by itself. Friends don't believe me when I tell them I haven't colored my hair in years (I used to have some streak put in with foils.) Perhaps this model has my hair color-but I know WEN makes my almost to the shoulder length hair look lighter.

I don't think he has ever implied Wen will hold color (especially red) through daily exposure to sun and ocean.  These models baby their hair, probably under the most ideal conditions.

@depglass... no, he hasn't. I was just sharing my experience with hair color in response  to some earlier comments in this thread.
