Im 55. Used to be a typical brunette dark skinned Italian type. My hair went white in my 30's and now my face is going really pale and dull as well. What can you do to brighten up? And what's up with the hooded eyelids as you get older? Do you still use eye shadow or does it just close your eye up more?

Hello,

You may consider using a vitamin C serum to bring the glow back to your skin.

I am about your age and have had luck using a Ponds brand BB cream. Unfortunately, it only comes in 2 shades, light and medium. I use the medium and it has an SPF 15, gives more coverage then a traditional BB cream and is illuminating so it helps give a little glow.

Re: eye shadow. I have that concern as well and still use shadow but avoid dark shadows at the crease as I believe that makes the "hooding" look worse.

I will say, everyone is different but play around with it, you will eventually find what looks best on you.

Im not sure about the eye thing myself. I just use one shade on lid area and a brightener under my brow bone. I probably wouldn't use anything with sparkle myself. As for the more pale complexion. I live in Florida also, born and raised and it's way more attractive and youthful looking than the older ladies that go out and tan. There is nothing attractive about that. Just play up your lighter complexion and add a little blush. I'm sure you are beautiful. For the dullness maybe an exfoliant if some sort and a skin brightener?

I hear you. I used to be referred to as olive toned. At 69 I am now referred to as peaches and cream. I've never worn much makeup; however, I find now that I need to so that I'm not so washed out. I wear very soft baked eye shadows by LG as well as her baked blush and hi-lighter. I'm retired so I can experiment all day long. Wink I think the key to eye shadow is SHADOW, not an announcement.
