Re: “2026”~Everyone, Please Join Us..

Good afternoon. Busy weekend so far. Went over to son & DIL's house to help my son prune a young magnolia shrub to slowly turn it into a tree.  I started at the bottom so we could remove all branches/twigs growing inward & some on the lowest parts growing outward. We removed one trunk that was right next to another as they were already rubbing together. I decided that another trunk should be removed but we will do that next year. Next year we can focus on the upper part of the tree too. I did want to do a drastic pruning.

Then we went out to eat for an early Mother's Day celebration. My youngest son also joined us.

I'll be going back tomorrow to prune winter damage off some roses they have. My DIL loved the shrub rose I bought.

Today I gassed up the car & visited the further away market. Now I'm home & have to make chicken meatballs for tomorrow & wil make some quick bread muffins with mini chocolate chips, walnuts & will add a Tsp. of coconut extract just to see how it tastes with the banana flavoring of the mix.

Have a relaxing Sunday.

Good evening.  Today I met DD for lunch and then we went to the movies.  Saw The Devil Wears Prada 2 - what a fun movie.  The fashions!  Oh my!   Meryl Streep, of course, was great and so was Anne Hathaway.  Emily Blunt was good too.  Glad we saw it on the big screen.  Then I came home and now I'm relaxing for the evening.

Hope everyone had a good Sunday

Re: “2026”~Everyone, Please Join Us..

hey all. it's been semi-chaos since the last time I posted. we've had "shower workers" here over the weekend. they had to replace the door going into the bathroom because it was defective. it had to be painted, then installed. the new towel rods were put up and the toilet paper holder that had been taken off the wall had to be put back on. the toilet paper holder turned out to be ridiculously complicated because the part that is screw3d into the drywall was loose and they had to patch the wall, secure the anchoring part and repaint. all we are waiting on now is the glass.

I have started moving things back into the bathroom little by little. I can see that a huge purge will be coming up.

this morning I decided to use the new shower to wash my hair, glass or no glass. I figured it would get water everywhere so I just put towels down on the floor, but it actually wasn't anywhere near as messy as I thought it would be. it was so nice to have room to actually move around and not feel like I was confined to a 1960s phone booth.

DH filled my car up this morning, even though I only needed a few gallons. it was over $30 for 6 gallons.

I'll catch up here and BBL.

Re: “2026”~Everyone, Please Join Us..

Good afternoon. Had a busy day with contractor &  kitchen design guy who redid measurements over wall oven cabinet.

Then after they left I drove to son & DIL's house to prune 3 roses of winter damage & did the same with a hydrangea by their raised deck. I lightly weeded around the roses-- removed as best I could dandelions, some columbine seedlings coming up & cut to the ground a maple tree that was too close to one rose. Probably the previous owners ignored it when the seedling had a soft stem. This was about 2' tall with a 1/4" diameter trunk!

I think I am giving my son for Father's Day a decent loping shears. He was using a hedge trimmer to cut some thin branches! 😲

Came home & picked up my mail. Three items from eBay arrived. Two Land o Lakes hardcover cookbooks -- Pasta & Grilling & I am about to try on an ivory silk blouse with tank from Bob Mackie. 🤞both fit me properly.

It's a good thing I made the chicken meatballs yesterday to cook them for dinner.

I tried on the outer blouse which fits if worn open & the tank fits at bust but could have used a skosh more room at hemline despite it having open sides towards the bottom. I will keep them. I have a Coldwater Creek camisole with spaghetti straps that matches the blouse in that ivory color.

The 2 cookbooks are in EUC. They had written 'very good' on the descriptions. I was able to remove a UPC sticker from the back of one of the books with Goo Gone.

Re: “2026”~Everyone, Please Join Us..

You ladies are certainly staying busy. We planted all our garden seeds today, but I'll hold off awhile on actual plants because our low for the next three nights is 35.

You'll see less of me on the boards because I can't access it from my Kindle.  I get a message saying 403 FORBIDDEN. A nice moderator assured me there are no restrictions listed under my name. For now, I'll pull out the cluncky laptop and try to do a brief daily check-in just to keep up on what is happening.
