Happy New Year! 🎉

2026 is starting with a snow squall & it looks very pretty looking outside my window.

Hanging out today.

I enjoyed my sour cream with Penzey's chip dip added to it last night.

I'm finishing up breakfast & just made a mimosa to celebrate the new year with my cereal. Adding cut up black berries adds more flavor to the cereal.

Have a great New Years Day.

happy new year, y'all!

DH is usually not one to stay up to see the new year in but he did last night. there were lots of fireworks in the neighborhood and we flipped back and forth between the new year's celebration shows but mostly watched the one from Nashville.

do y'all do a traditional new year's day meal? I'm going to start the black eyed peas soon since they need to cook for several hours. we'll have a mix of turnip & collard greens, cabbage, ham and cornbread.

DD had to work today but DSIL is off so he has Ezra. we'll have a quiet day.

one of our old friends went to Nashville to spend the week of Christmas with her daughter. 3 days ago she started coughing and then developed a fever and very hard chills. she went to an emergency room and was admitted with pneumonia and positive blood cultures. I talked to her 2 nights ago and aside from a lot of coughing she sounded ok, but last night her O2 sats dropped and she had to be intubated and put on a ventilator. it's shocking how quickly things can change. she's had every vaccine we're supposed to have at our age and tries to do everything she can to be healthy, but still, life can be so fragile.

BBL, off to start the black eyed peas.

@MariotaMurielle  - So sorry to hear about your friend.

I don't do anything special for New Years Day or Eve, actually.  Think I'll have pizza for dinner tonight.  Watching the Thin Man movie marathon on TCM and relaxing for today.  Have done a load of laundry and got it folded and put away.  Still in my jammies and robe though. LOL  Think I should probably get dressed.

Re: “2026”~Everyone, Please Join Us..

Happy New Year!  We had a really good time at the club's NYE party, it was an open bar and I enjoyed it!  I started off with a cocktail, a Lemon Drop, it was yummy, they passed some really good appetizers around, crab balls, that tasted like it was all crab, bruschetta, mozzarella and tiny tomato balls on a stick.  Dinner was a shrimp cocktail, salad and filet mignon. I had a glass of red wine with my dinner and a Bailey's Irish Cream as my after dinner drink.  We had a champagne toast at midnight, then we left!  It started at 7, so I paced myself but still drank a little too much!  So many people left around 11 but my group stuck it out.  We had a DJ too, so much fun!

Our friends that were planning on coming on NY's Day called the day before, they were both sick, spent Xmas with their DD & family and the two little girls got sick and spread it around and weren't going to be able to come, so we rescheduled for next week.   In a way I was glad, I partied a little hardy the night before.  DH took down the outside decorations this morning since rain is coming tomorrow and we'll take the inside decorations down tomorrow.  We're both playing golf today, me with the girls and he's playing with his men's group.  The sun is out and it's in the low 60's and I'm looking forward to getting out there since it's predicted to rain all day tomorrow!

MM--Sounded like you had a nice NY's, quiet is nice, we've had plenty of those over the years so.  I do hope your friend gets better, it sounds like she's having a hard time right now.  I'll keep her in my thoughts & prayers.

JudyL--I love The Thin Man series!  I know you enjoyed it.  We watched some of the Twlight Zone shows yesterday.

Dazlin--I'm sure your grandson kept you "on your toes" and you love every minute of it.  Enjoyj!

SISD--Thank you so much for starting the new thread!
