@viva923 , fireworks blasting in the middle of the night out here too. They're illegal where we live, and I heard sirens soon after. 
It's heartbreaking waking up to the horrible news in New Orleans. Praying for all the families and loved ones. There still deciding if the Sugar Bowl will be played or postponed in order to keep everyone safe. As of now, it's still on.

It will be a relaxing, do nothing day for us. Our son is coming over a little later.

Good morning everyone.  It's a beautiful sunny day here to start the new year.  Rain will be here on Friday.  Heard a few fireworks last night off in the distance so it wasn't bad.  Not sure what I'll do today.  Will try and get out for a bit of a walk, knee permitting.

OK, just got this recipe from foodnetwork that I'm saving or may make today. I like Big Macs and treat myself to one every once in awhile. I have everything to make, and it looks tasty and easy!

Big Macs at home a must

1/2 cup Mayo
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp mustard (I would personally only use one next time, little bit too tangy for me)
2 tbsp diced pickles
2 tbsp diced onions
1tsp paprika
1tsp onion powder
Salt pepper to taste

Let it sit in the fridge a few hours

This amount makes enough sauce for about 4 of these. Double as needed

Good afternoon! Those doozy storms came by us after 3 AM & this morning it was misting when I ran errands. 

I bought some cough medicine as I am still coughing. 

Not eating anything special for tonight. No black eyed peas or swallowing grapes.

Woke up on New Years to snow that was not forecasted. Had just washed our SUV and it got full of slush when we went to church. Got in a nap, played Scrabble, and caught just a bit of the news from NOLA. This insanity has to stop. I dread school starting again, because some deranged person is probably planning to do harm.

Good afternoon. Feeling much better hardly coughing now. I took a half dose when I awoke.

I wrapped my grandson's birthday present. He turns 3 in a little over a week. Bought him this cute Brio train construction set,

.

My eBay items arrived. The napkins didn't match the photos from the seller. 

Napkins had in photo a dark aqua border & rabbits pictured by a Easter basket. Napkins received had light aqua border & the Easter basket was missing. Return was free because the item was not as photographed & I enclosed photos as part of the return. 

Tablecloth is oval & has a dark aqua border. Closer look at the print pattern shows 1 rabbit missing from Easter basket. 

Napkins I bought from a different seller with placemats have TWO rabbits by the basket. 

I'm keeping the tablecloth because of the matching dark aqua border. 

it will take quite an observant person to notice the multiplied rabbits on the napkins from the tablecloth! 😉

we had our New Year's Day supper today. with the way this year started, a one day delay couldn't hurt. so much for my big hopes for more peace and kindness in the world.

we had black eyed peas, turnip & collard greens, cornbread and ham. we have a sweet potato pie too, but neither one of us had room for that after supper.

DSIL was going to leave today heading back to Kansas City but had to wait until tomorrow, so they came over tonight and took the Christmas tree down for me. I tried, but couldn't get the sections separated. now it's back in the garage and that corner of the room looks almost bare. I miss the lights. I forgot to take the Christmas wreath down tonight, so I'll do that tomorrow.

DH sees the surgeon tomorrow, and I'm hoping to find somewhere to get the RSV and Covid vaccines. I know, I should have done that months ago.

it's beginning to get cold here again and we are supposed to have below freezing lows over the net week or so.
