Good afternoon! Life in the icebox day 2. It's currently 20° but feels like 13° outside.

Ran 2 errands. Visited a slightly further away CVS in town from me but the store had good parking & no exiting the lot. The one by me that opened a few months ago, you cannot make a left exiting either lot entrance. Whoever approved that should have their head examined.  

Just called the tile place to ask where my caulk is. It's over a week. The woman said she will contact the warehouse. 

Parking lots & roads are very clear of ice & snow. I did hear last night that another storm is headed our way.

Various items ordered from Kohl's, Home Depot & eBay sellers are in the pipeline.

hello all

had to purchase a new rice cooker last night the old cooker didn't cook the rice correctly-it was soup when time was up-got a new cooker see if this one is any better.

still a ice box out there-woke up to 5 above this morning with a wind chill of zero.

did get morn walk in.

have hair cut at 12 noon and lawyer appt at 2pm for end of life paperwork for our son/wife

Good Morning, at this moment, we are on an Evacuation advisory (on alert). Hoping things don't get worse. There's ashes everywhere, and air quality is really bad. We've packed important things, just in case.

We are warmer today; in the low 30's with sunshine.

I visited the local supermarkets for sale items -- one store had Perdue thin chicken cutlets on sale & the other had bottom round on sale. Fortunately I found a 2# package of the bottom round & bought it. I halved it, froze one half & intend to make a pot roast on Sunday. My recipe calls for a 2 - 3 pound roast. I am halving the recipe so I don't have leftovers forever. This is my Grandfather's recipe that uses onions, garlic, carrots & celery with red wine. 

I have a 2nd recipe that is Genovese style pot roast which omits the vegetables except for the onions & garlic. Red wine is added. The roast after it is cooked is sliced & put atop vermicelli pasta. 

I have 2 pork chops defrosting which I will marinate with garlic powder, lemon juice, cumin & olive oil. I usually make this marinade for a loin of pork, but this time will use over the boneless pork chops. That will be for tomorrow.

Tonight I am heading out to eat. 

Last night I made 2 of Chung's frozen vegetable egg rolls in the oven. They came out perfect! I served those with Saucy Susan Apricot Peach Sauce & some of my leftover vegetable fried rice.

@SleeplessinSD  - I hope you don't have to evacuate.   Please keep in touch as you can.  I remember the fires of 2017 up here and the ash and air quality were so bad, we all had to stay home from work.  The sky turned orange and dark, it was so eery.  Take care.

hi friends. we've only had Ezra for 3 days this week, so we've had a good break. he's been a very busy boy, though, and we're ready for the weekend. almost all the snow has melted but it's still in the 20s here at night. tomorrow is supposed to be warmer and I'll unwrap my front door pots.

he's had fun playing in what is left of the snow..

I haven't watched any news today, and not much yesterday so I didn't know about the SD fire. @SleeplessinSD , that's so scary. I pray you & your family and your home will be safe.

I may or may not have gone on a little vintage Dooney & Bourke, Marino Orlandi and Ghurka shopping spree on eBay over the past week and a couple of them arrived this week. now I need to get busy and sell a few.

on the days that we didn't have Ezra this week I did some serious purging and de-cluttering around the house, mostly from my closet. it's a never-ending situation, so it's not over....to be continued.
