Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

hey friends.

we had a fun evening last night. I had crabmeat stuffed redfish and it was really good. then over to our friend's house for birthday cake and coffee.

today was quiet but good. it was cool and sunny and DH spent a couple of hours in the backyard burning a big pile of stuff that we've accumulated just for a day like today.

DH and I did Facetime with Ezra today and it's pretty hilarious how he stares at the phone when we talk to him.

tonight I wanted something easy for supper so we're having Natchitoches Meat Pies. we discovered them almost 40 years ago when we were living in Louisiana and took a trip to Natchitoches. it's a beautiful old river town, famous for their meat pies. whenever we can find them at the grocery store it's a treat.

sending big blessings to all.

here's a sunset from my front yard. I don't have a camera so I used my phone. it was much more brilliantly pink and orange in person.

have a peaceful evening, y'all

@MariotaMurielle , well, of course, I had to go online to find out what a natchitoches meat pie was. They look like a crescent filled pastry. Yum! I also saw you can order them online. They come with various fillings. What were yours? Great photo!

@JustJazzmom , so glad to hear EP is doing well so far. My continued prayers for all the family..

@Hayfield , we got our granddaughter some real nice boots that are  water proof and fur lined for the cold for Christmas. I think she's pretty well set as far as warm things she'll need. We'll be making plans to visit her sometime in April. While I hate flying, I'm excited to visit New York and visit all the great places we've heard of, as well as her school.

@katte , we haven't heard from you and I'm hoping you're doing OK. So sorry this is late, but I hope you had a great Christmas birthday! 🎂

We're hoping to get out tomorrow and buy a new sofa for our family room. We have a large sectional that has worked out well and makes for comfortable seating. Our room is big enough, DH can still have his big chair to relax in too. Hopefully we'll find something as Ive been reading inventory is low, and it could take months to get on order. We'll see!

Good Night Everyone...

@SleeplessinSD, we get the original meat pies, which is pork & beef combined but they make a few different kinds. they probably taste better fried, but we never fry food so we cook them in the oven. you can buy them from the website (natchitochesmeatpies dotcom) but I think you have to buy a large quantity and the shipping is ridiculous. we buy ours @ Kroger, 4 in a package.

Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Keep those prayers coming! Little guy hasn't been closed up yet as doctor wants to make determination if to start the first of 3 heart surgeries or not. Decision might be made this weekend -- cautiously optimistic.

Bitter cold weather is moving in overnight. Winds most of the day here. I hung out at home and folded laundry. We had egg omelets with slices of brie & fig jam dolloped on top of the slices. The omelet gets mostly done in the skillet with the cheese & jam & then folded on top to look li,e a half moon. I served it with a salad.

Tomorrow will visit supermarket for some items -- bacon, a frozen pie crust, bread & coldcuts. I may make another quiche this week using mushrooms, & bacon. Next time I make it,  I may increase the nutmeg amount to a 1/2 Tsp. instead of 1/4 Tsp. Expecting maybe a rain event on Monday. Other areas, might start as snow, then change to rain or remain as snow. All depends on how the storm tracks.

So glad I did those donations on Thursday. I did it then to keep my mind off of what was going on with grandson. Otherwise, I'd have been absorbed all day.

Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!  It's sunny & chilly out today, we're playing golf with another couple this afternoon, we'll see how it goes.  It's only going to be in the 50's but low winds so we're going to give it a try.  We're expecting rain all day tomorrow so we want to get out today!  Have a good day!

JJM--Prayers coming!  I kow you must be just pacing the floor, so keeping busy is good!

SISD--I would love to get new great room furniture but I'm just too lazy to go look and I know how backordered everything is, which isn't a big deal since my great room furniture is still OK, but I don't think it suits the coastal feel of where we live now, we'll see, don't want to go out among too many people yet.  I can wait until spring to look, I think the sales are happening right now though!  I don't like to fly either, so I get that but you'll want to see where your DGD goes to school and lives.  DS lived in Morning Heights near Columbia when he first moved to NYC, I love that area, not crowded, beautiful brownstones, the campus is pretty too!

Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

hi friends. it's been cold, gray and rainy here and they're talking about snow tomorrow. we'll see....I never believe those forecasts until I see it happen.

we have an appointment to look at a house on Tuesday. it's a house that needs a lot of work, so we'll just have to look at it and see if it would be manageable. we're not ready to sell this one yet, but close.

@JustJazzmom, I'm so sorry to see that the baby may need more surgery. he is in my prayers.

blessings to all.

here's a Laurel sunset.

have a peaceful evening, y'alll

Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

@MariotaMurielle , wow, didn't realize you were so close to selling. Is the place you'll be looking at Tuesday, close to your DD?

@Hayfield , I've seen pictures our son sent of Morning Heights. Beautiful! We'll be going with our son and DIL. They've been a few times and are excited to show us around. As well as Columbia, Central Park, the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and High Line (I think you mentioned) are high on my list!

@JustJazzmom , praying baby EP had a good day and there's positive news from his doctors.

It was such a crummy day here weatherwise. Cold, windy and light rain most of the day. So, we'll wait for another day to go furniture shopping. We aren't in a rush.

Wishing everyone a relaxing, peaceful rest of the evening..

Re: “2022”~Everyone, Please Join Us!

@SleeplessinSD, this house is about 13 miles from DD. we would prefer to live near one of the smaller towns outside of the city where DD is and the location of this house is perfect. I have a feeling this house may need more work than we would want to tackle but it's on 3 very pretty acres and the price is good, so we're going to check it out. I think we'll be ready to list this house sometime this spring.

whew.....it's so cold here. it did snow just north of us but we didn't get anything except rain and wind.
