I'm not so much into having a "color of the year." But I love color. You'd never know because I typically wear jeans and something black on top every day. But when it comes to other things, I just love color. And I find it fascinating how other people are drawn to certain colors and how we each have our own preferences. I took some color theory classes when I was studying interior design in grad school. I loved those classes more than any others I took.

Not the first time I've heard the "what's next, 80's peach and sage?" remark about Panetone's color of the year.

Personally, I think "Rose Quartz" is more Pepto Pink "For those years when the news stories have you reaching for the medicine cabinet. The color that jail holding cells are painted, research having found that pink soothes the jagged nerves of those violent people being held until going before the judge.....paint your home in the same color as upholstery from 80's hair salons and chillax!"

Pastels are perfect for decorating a beach house inside and out, imo.

And I don't like to clash with the decor.  So I love them too.

Two of my favorite colors and flattering on most everyone.

Finally clothes in colors that I like.

How are we feeling about Rose Quartz and Serenity? I personally think they're kind of blah and remind me of the two colors that my mom's decorator friend used in every house she touched in the late 80s/early 90s. What are your thoughts? Sorry for not posting swatches, it's not easy from a mobile device.

80's/90's decor was my first thought too!! I get a kick out of seeing what Pantone picks.

I don't understand why we need a "color of the year" anyway. The colors you buy in clothing or makeup should be based on your own complexion and hair color, and the colors you use to decorate are a matter of personal preference.

As far as rose quartz and serenity...well...they're pink and blue...nursery colors.

I don't care what colors are "in" but it does indicate what colors we will see more of in stores this Spring. I don't wear pastels so those are out. I like a few of the other colors. I am in my 50s and I know what colors I like so I will stick to those regardless of what color they are pushing.
