So I don't wear makeup when it gets this hot. Wore sunscreen and my skin turned brown and spotty, and that's with wearing a hat!

What do you do to protect yourself from the heat? Beyond had, sunglasses and sunscreen, I'm at a loss.

You're absolutely NOT using sunscreen correctly. It works if you do.

Chemical sunscreen must go on bare skin in order to work. A chemical reaction takes places within the skin to provide the protection.

You must use SPF 30 or higher and REapply during the day.

You must use it every day, all day. UV comes thru windows too.

You must apply liberally. SPF in foundation, BB cream, etc. is a joke.

I wear Josie Maran's physical SPF because it is awesome protection and feels good on the skin.

I also wear hats, long sleeves, long pants, and fingerless gloves. Yup. I am active in water sports and live in S. CA. I don't go to the mailbox without protection because sun damage is cumulative. UV is radiation.

Wow!

I applied spf 30 several times during the day "liberally" I wore SPF 30 Banana Boat was the brand and it was the active sport water resistant one, which I just purchased 2 weeks ago.

104 ~ OMG. I have a hard time handling anything over 80 degrees. I can't imagine this day after day. Is this temp a fluke, or do you live where this is the norm?

Hmmm, I'd be PO'ed too! I would absolutely try physical, mineral sunscreen if I were you. I've never seen data that everyone is protected by chemical sunscreen.

Also, using an antioxidant serum underneath your sunscreen bumps it up.

Please note that you can buy hats that have an SPF rating. That's all I use. Check out Amazon for different brands. Coolibar makes good UV protective clothes, gloves, scarves, etc. I have some. Don't give up!

BTW, 104 degrees? Yuck.

I'm considering moving to Scotland. No sunscreen necessary.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Summer is bad here! I would say we regulary hit between 90-100+ from June to end of Sept.

Winter is fabulous though! I tell my husband we need to buy a house up north for the summer and come back to CA in the winter! Too bad we are not retired yet.

I am worried about the UV damage to my skin, and trying to protect the kids.

I use alba Botanica sunscreen. They offer mineral or natural, never greasy and I like the fragrance free or the lavender scented. Under $10. If it is extremely hot, I stay in. I could never live in Arizona.
