Rain and more rain. So I stay in and do housework. I took an umbrella yesterday on my walk but lucky it didn't rain. I found out when I got home it had rotten in spots for dh had it in his car so now the garbage can has it.

How do you sleep. I go to bed most of the time at 8 even with a short nap and wake up at 5 or 6. Put on the tv for noise even if I don't look at it all the time for I have a mess to clean up. Shredding papers and papers with his name and address on. Did your husband keep receipts from years past; mine did.

Thank goodness for dishwashers. Couldn't live without one. Put one in at my old house and here too. Now if anyone coud invent an automatic maid for the cats potty.

I know all some of you feel with back problems--I had an operation over a.  year ago  My legs were killing me when I walked. They said it was arthritis. Pills never helped. The only thing I want is to soak in a tub. DH had to put socks on his hands to pull me up under my arms. I hate showers. My son got me a chair to sit on.

Well I better go. Toast and coffee doesn't last long in my stomach. I am not a big eater in the morning. Like more later.

Take care now!

Hi halfpint1:

I have to admit it has been hard for me to sleep since my DH passed.  I finally went to the Doctor to get some help but I didn't want any prescrition medicine so he recommended Malatonin but said it probably would not help to keep me asleep all night. Ended up going with Tylenol PM for the bad nights. Doing much better now.

Years ago my DH made me the CEO of all of our paperwork and bill paying so I had everything organized.  I was lucky and did not have the job you have shredding papers. I sure got a ton to work with when he passed one file after another to organize and keep.

You might want to look into the new cat potty's on the market. I don't have a cat but I saw one advertised and it does the cleaning for you all you have to do is replace what looks like a tube so no mess and no smell. It cleans the box periodically so it is always clean.

Hope you have a great day. Smiley Happy

Hi Snappyfrappy and Friends:

My gosh another thing we have in common when my DH and I started out we too purchased hard rock maple and it has stood the test of time with our family and their friends, seems like we always had a gang around our table at meal time and the furniture always looked brand new even though it had some nicks.   We intermixed some Oak into our maple and the colors are very similar so I have some of the old pieces and some of the new.  I have always loved tiffany lamps so they were part of our home always too. I too love warm colors and they sure provide it.

Your right I do learn a lot cooking with my GD sometimes its about school and other times its about her social life.  I sorta act as a vent for her, I don't give her advise. I am a very good non judgemental listner and so she feels free to come to me especially when she is feeling stressed like now she is studing for the state exam and it isn't going to be easy,  but once she passes it she can apply to the school of nursing.  It's a nice relationship we have. Love her very much.

My DH was a Korean Vet and served two tours in the war. He was in a couple battles where he earned metals he was very proud of.  If I ever had any competition it was the service that he loved so very much and served so many years in. It is very fitting he is buried in Tahoma National cemetery in his dress uniform.Heart

Wishing you all a nice weekend, we are still enjoying sunshine and love it. Suppose to get some rain coming in on Tuesday.  Smiley Happy

Hi possummink, when do you return home?  I know it's soon, so am glad you are getting the packing and shipping done. So thankful your DS and DIL weren't at work when the tornado's hit. That would be so terrifying.

It's been raining here for hours, a gentle soaking rain, but just now it's coming down harder. So happy since we need it so badly, and I always feel invigorated by cool, wet weather.

DD has to go out to do the grocery shopping, which concerns me, but it's not too far from home. Her finger is still hurting a lot, and her arm. Glad for a little time off from work, but there's a lot to do around here.

I love the picture of a bird that has lots of colors, but red on his chest. No painter could duplicate that. The Creator has made so many gorgeous things. Thanks for sharing.

Hi halfpint, LOVING the rain! It has been a gentle soaking kind, but just a few minutes ago it started to rain harder, now it's back to sprinkling. Everything is so happy for the water.

Glad you didn't need that umbrella while out walking! We so seldom need them. For all I know, ours are rotten too.

You asked how we sleep. I've never been a morning person, at least not as an adult, but used to go to bed around 11 or so. Now I am up until around 1 a.m., sometimes later. So I usually sleep until around 10:30 or later. We sleep the same number of hours, but just different ones. I'm not hungry in the morning either, but I eat a packet of instant oatmeal every day. I do most of my eating at night, which isn't good, but I do it anyway.

Oh, my hubby saved everything he ever had. I have NO idea how many of those big black trash bags of shredded papers we threw away. The girls found dumpsters where they could put things. Behind grocery stores, etc. We still haven't gone through every drawer or shelf. And what is up in the rafters is partially a mystery. He did locksmith work on the side and there are SO many drawers full of key blanks and unknown things. Whenever I have a worker here like a plumber, or painter, etc., I always ask if they know a locksmith who might want that stuff. They don't. Hubby wouldn't tell me who he wanted to have his tools, so I gave all the power equipment and drill press, router, etc. to my son who has two grown sons.

Sorry you had back troubles, and surgery. No way could I get into a bathtub, let alone out of it. And DD wouldn't be able to lift me out either. I have just enough strength to get a very quick shower, and this morning I dried my back and rear and then stepped out and sat down to dry the rest of me. I was using the sqeegie to clean the walls and doors, but can barely do the doors now. My legs are so weak, and tingle all the time.

That's partly from the CMT, but also my doc thinks there may be a pinched nerve or disc problems. I also wouldn't be surprised if it's stenosis. But I'm nearly 82, so I wouldn't want any surgery. It will be interesting to know what the xray shows. That's Monday.

Enjoy the rain, stay inside and dry if you want to. While DD is shopping, I'll get my hair washed then I can help her put things away.

Hi Silkeej, kindred spirits...maple furniture and oak are indeed warm colors. When DD opened the table to put in the leaves, she noticed how well made all the inside is and remarked to me about it. No way would we be able to afford well made things now.

Am thankful for your hubby's service to the country. Glad he survived the battles and was honored. My hubby was only 17 when he joined the Air Force. He was stationed mostly in China which he dearly loved. He collected things from there and we found them all over the house and garage and have put them all together in a plastic container.

They say that parents and kids sitting side by side in the car not having to look at each other can often talk about things they couldn't face to face. Am glad your GD looks to you for guidance and you can be her encourager. I've prayed she will be able to pass the nursing test. It's clear she has a passion she will need to help people.

Take care and enjoy your nice weather.
