I think you are talking about Cardioversion. I have had 2 heart attacks, but no Afib or other heart irregularities. Never had that, but several of my friends had them, as did 2 roommates when I was on the Heart Floor.
Friends say "no big deal" for them, but they were not always successful, long term, for keeping their heart in sinus rhythm. They were all in-patient when they had this done.
About all I can tell you about this type of procedure.

Yes, DH has had it. It doesn't hurt but it is an unusual feeling. He doesn't like how it feels. He has no pain with it....just says "it feels wierd". Every once in a while (since his cardiac arrest in 2011) he has it done. He accepts that it's just something you have to do to keep track of things.
