my door had the lock break and i called a locksmith. he was great.  he rekeyed all four locks on my front and back doors so that all i need is one key.  i have two n each door.  one is a deaadbolt and the other one is a regular lock.  it is so nice to have one key that will work in all four locks.  and he only charged me $70.00

Wow. Great price. I don;t know where you live, but two months ago I paid double that amount to re-key two locks with one key for each, also same key for front and back doors.

That price was pretty good.  A few weeks ago, my DH lost a key chain with our house keys on them. He laid the keys on the bumper of his vehicle forgot about the, and drove off.  His car keys were not on that key chair.

He had to replace the door locks and the deadbolts on the front and back doors.  He purchased the locks all keyed alike and did the work himself.  It cost only a little less than you paid for the locksmith. The price also included a handful of keys made for our adult kids who have a key to our house.

All my locks are like that.  Except for the glass storm doors.  2 different keys--for front and back.  So I still need two separate keys to get in.

We lock them because sometime the wind is WILD and I'm always afraid someone will come while we're out and open the glass door to knock on the front door and not totally click the storm door shut.

If the wind whips up it could blow the door open---and away!

In our plan we found out that one key worked in every home built by our builder here. WTH? So we had the locksmith come and re key all the locks. Same as the OP - a doorknob lock and a dead bolt on each door. Even though this was brought up at our big yearly HOA mtg so everyone would know about it - it seems only a few people actually took care of getting the locks rekeyed. As most of the homes here are vacation homes they don't have much in the way of valuable items inside( many have second hand furniture from thrift stores etc.) so I guess the owners didn't want to pay the money for new keys.

@Lucky Charm Where I live , as part of the hurricane standards they are required to build homes to, the doors all open out ward not in. This is supposed to prevent the wind from blowing them open in a hurricane.Of course , it also prevents anyione from putting up a storm door. Our front door is enclosed into a small alcove so many of the neighbors put screens over the opening into the alcove.
