A good Sunday to good friends! Has turned nice and cool here- great sleeping weather. I'm happy to welcome fall.

Yesterday, in the big kitchen, we started making the autumn harvest breads.

Bread of any type or shape is my greatest weakness, so I was careful to bring back only a small basket to offer guests- with one leaf for me.

Quilting is ongoing, too..

We'll have a nice supply to sell in the gift shop, with 80% going to charity. We'll be sure to remember all those flood victims in the Carolinas with our love offerings. 🙏

Once they get the businesses up and going again.. people can return to work, and tourists will return. That will help a lot! I'd go myself, if I could still travel without so much bother.

Thank you, sweet @DeLaney! ❤️ So kind of you to miss me. I haven’t been online much at all- about like you, I'd guess. There's just so many hours in each day, and never any shortage of things that need doing. I'm sorry about the Disney Christmas trip! Have heard wonderful things about Dollywood, though. You will enjoy yourself wherever you go. You have such a positive attitude and so much zest for life. Gwen and her friends prefer the Disney in Florida. That resort, plus they say there is so much more to do and see. I've never been to either, so couldn’t vouch personally. I agree about the baby being too young yet anyway. I never even took Angela to the state fair or Hersheypark until she was school age. Say hello to that handsome Mike and your dear parents for me!

@Q-Anu, I hope you and your family have fun shoe shopping! 🤗 Yes, you'll find men's, as well as women's of all styles there. I'll be getting the flu and pneumonia shots sometime next week. Fortunately the nurses come to us, and I hope they got the strains right this year. I'm so happy that Marian is doing so well. Did she get back up to a healthier weight yet? Also, how is Frank who lost his home in the Houston flood? I hope he is able to remain in contact with your family, if only through the church. Who knows, but when your husband is transferred again.. you may end up nearer to your parents. Not to mention good friends in VA. The Lord works in mysterious ways, and I'm praying you all hear from the estranged sister, too. Hugs to Nathan and Mia! Tell them I'm still enjoying my coloring and puzzle books.

@SelahG, I changed my avatar since yours is so much prettier and to avoid confusion. Yes, they are too small here, but I still enjoy the little personal touch. Love the seasonal ones most of all. Here are your boots!

71F89A17-C495-4C9E-902D-5C1013B42EF3.jpeg

🤣 I hope you like them! You have so many shoes and boots, I had to refine my search. If you already have these, I'll go back to the drawing board.

I had forgotten all about Wolf Hall, depicting Thomas Cromwell, etc. The next season, if it’s to be at all, is long overdue. Hilo and I, as well as you younger ladies, found it quite interesting. Of course we all know how it goes, but there is so little of interest that is new on TV. Plenty of remakes. Hazel was a real hoot! She ran the whole town and everybody in it! I loved her relationship with little Harold. ❤️ Bless you for continuing to shelter the senior couple. My prayers are with them, and your relatives returning home. I see on the news that people and pets are yet being rescued. Could be any one of us next, as our Lord explained when the building collapsed.. sudden disaster doesn’t discriminate.

@snappyfrappy, hello today! I wish I could send you some of our PA rain, or excess of water. It's feast or famine. I hope your state will get a lot of snow up north this year. Otherwise where does southern CA get the water to supply such a massive population? It must be imported and I'm sure for drinking, it's mostly bottled water. I'm so sorry that Star and her parents have been so sick. Prayers for their recovery and your eye care situation. How sweet that the babies are beginning to resemble each other, and your late husband! ❤️ I keep readers around, too. One of my eyes is weaker than the other, so I buy them for the weakest eye at the local pharmacy. Once you learn your number, you can order them anywhere. Hope your DD is able to get some much deserved rest today. I know her front porch decor will be lovely! I love the harvest theme decor myself.

@cute t, so good to see you here! I can’t imagine how a corvette could wear eye lashes, but I would love to know and see that! 😍 Did you win a prize? We're having a classic car show here today. The top prize is a brand new car. The second place prize is a $1,000 credit on a car. Many are there, but I don’t drive. I bought two raffle tickets, though, because this event benefits Cops 'N' Kids. Something I very much value. Oh, boy.. little Sawyer is in Sweden! Such a beautiful place- I'm sure they enjoyed themselves and will bring you many photos to treasure.

For all the helloers:

You want me to break my fool neck, @LurkyLoo? Mercy! Maybe I'll wear those if I decide to go as the wing-footed Mercury for Halloween.

No, I sure don't have those in my shoe closet. Thank you for the laugh! Always most appreciated.

I looked up the info on Wolf Hall. Some time next year, at the earliest. Supposedly it won't be predictable due to some time jumps. We shall see!

Your new avatar is adorable, and I want a piece of that bread NOW. Have the perfect, fresh topping for it!

-Honey Butter-

1 pound butter
1/4 cups honey
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Special equipment: Dough Scraper, Standing Mixer, Parchment Paper or Plastic Wrap

Cut the butter into chunks using the dough scraper.

Place butter into the mixer's work bowl and beat at low speed, using the whisk attachment to loosen the butter.

Increase the speed to medium and add the honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract and beat until well combined, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Remove butter from bowl and spoon onto parchment paper or plastic wrap. Roll into a log and refrigerate for 2 hours.

A most blessed Sunday, and week ahead, to you and all here!

-Selah 😘

To Snappy, Cute t, Issy, bathina, and all the KS sweeties, I am enjoying your messages, and I wish I could respond to each of you individually. You are in my Heart.

I am able to type with both hands today, although my left shoulder and arm ache a little. I think I'm about 75% healed, but I'll know more when I see the ortho doc for x-rays in about 10 days. I am going to PT (ouch, but good ouch) and can now DRIVE (yay!) short distances as long as I'm super alert to braking slowly so that my right knee is not jolted.

This experience has taught me to be careful where I step and to take it easy -- no rushing to get anywhere, and no spontaneous quick moves. My two pairs of "non-skid" slip-on shoes (one Skechers and one Addidas) are now gone from the house!

Fall is my favorite season, and I am looking forward to cool weather. Can't wait! Makes me happy just to think about it.

All of you are in my thoughts. Heart

Just catching up reading here, friends....after finishing up with The Miniaturist! Won't go spoiling anything for ya' - just woah!

Loved how you're all getting autumned up here! Changed my avatar, too. From a stained-glass window:

Where do you find all those cool Celtic designs, @DeLaney? You must have a private stash! Speaking for myself only; I would choose Dollywood over Disney, too. Sorry! 😘 You know I luv ya'!

You chose the exact pair of boots that I need, Lurky! We had a busy working weekend, and I didn’t get to do any shopping....other than groceries and cleaning supplies. Thanks for bringing the smiles!

I'm LOL at Selah's new boots! Hey, those things would definitely put a spring in your step! TY for the recipe! 👌

@MsLomo, you're making great progress through your PT! Typing with both hands, and DRIVING! I'm glad to hear it and so proud of you. Pushing through the pain like a boss, and I'm sure it has been frustrating. I'm looking forward to fall, too. Sweater weather! 😍

Snappy, I'm sure Dr. Eye Candy does appreciate your help! He'd like to keep treating you, and but of course....why wouldn’t he? Loves you like family. I'll keep praying - for Star and family, too. We're mandated to have the flu shot at work, so soon, I'm sure. Did your DD get the porch decorated? I have my mums in containers I sank along the walkway, and a wreath on the front door. Otherwise zilch. We had a lot of cleanup outside following the storms, plus Darrell decided to power wash the siding and windows before the weather turns cold.

Take care, everyone and have a nice week!

You are in our hearts and prayers, too, @MsLomo. ❤️ Been missing you and wondering how your recovery is coming along. Thank you so much for making the effort to share your encouraging update. It sounds like you are blessed with a very good physical therapist. That can make all the difference. That, and your brave, level-headed determination to follow through. Knew you would, and that you will take every precaution with your driving, as well as with your steps.

So long to those sinister shoes! 👿 Maybe they can be recycled into fly swatters.

I love the cooler temps of autumn, too, and how things just tend to slow down this time of year, before the rush of Christmas season. I don’t even mind it getting dark earlier in the evenings. Love to wrap a warm throw around me, have a cup of something hot and read a good book. I just hope we get less of this in our area:

I'm leaving it here for Snappy, since they need some rain, with the hope that they get some soon.

Come back and chat when you feel like it. Not the same around here without you! No need to reply individually to all. We certainly understand and don’t want you overdoing.

I hope we hear from Issy soon, too. She is always such a delight, and I just love to hear about her friend's little boy, Elijah and her latest shopping finds. I get ideas for gift giving from all of you ladies. Still have quite the holiday list to fill. Not getting much inspiration by watching QVC lately. Too much of the same old things.

Blessings to you and your family!

Oh, boy, @SelahG.. the bread, topped with your honey butter and a nice, firm honey crisp apple, sliced on the side.. I could make a nice meal off of that! 😋

Tell Rowan that the Food Network is having their Halloween specials. She may see some ideas for the school party.

Please let us know how it goes with your relatives and friends regarding the flooding, and their properties when it's convenient for you (or Rowan). 🙏

I knew you'd get a kick out of those boots! 😅

So good to hear from you, @agnesann! Your new avatar is as lovely as you are. I bet that is some beautiful stain-glassed window in its entirety.

That nail art looks very Scottish. Selah will love it! ❤️

I fell asleep early last night, so still have to watch the finale of our show. I bet it's a doozy, as Hazel would say!

Others can freely discuss it here, though, if you like. I won't be back for a few days anyway. Have some routine appointments scheduled, and they are coming to install my new wheelchair accessible countertop and sink in the kitchen. They are doing this in some apartments, as needed on the 2 upper floors, since the first floor remains full. Good news, but if it's too messy, I may go stay with Gert for a few days.

A wonderful week to all of you ladies!

Hi Selah,

Star's mom sent me several pix of her, but no words. Last she said was that she was better just coughing.

The babies look more alike than you can imagine! Sometimes I forget which is which. Am looking forward to actually seeing them again.

Oh, goody...cute has stopped by!!

So very happy to hear from you and get some news. I KNOW you love the Corvette shows and all the fun your town has.

Your grandson and his wife are amazing people. So good that the baby enjoys flying. They are growing and changing so fast.

Star and Sunny look so much alike! I didn't think that would happen, but sometimes i look at a picture and ask myself which one is it???

See, Sunny's daddy has dark brown eyes and hair, so I thought she would too, but her eyes are blue and her eyebrows look red in the pix. I'd love to see them in person, but that may not happen until the end of October when we have everyone here for the fall birthdays.

I understand that you are busy, so it's all the more special when you can come here. We miss you otherwise.

How is your DD?

Hi Lurky,

Say, those are some amazing boots for Selah!! I'd fall and break both hips just trying to stand in them...ah to be young.

Your handiwork is so lovely. And those breads! Oh, my, I could live on either sweets or bread. It's wonderful that you can continue to enjoy cooking where you live. I know you bless everyone all the time.

Oh, I'd love some rain. It is cooler today. No AC and the sliding door is open letting in a nice breeze. We relish it while we can.

The snow pack in the north is vital to the survival of the southern part of California.

We get water from there and also CO. Sometimes things get territorial. Like, it's our water, why should they have it?

But, mostly it's apparently peaceful.

If I could get to the drug store, I would try on readers to get the proper magnification. i could guess and order something through Amazon and return it if it's not right, and I may.

I'll see what the eye doc has to say when he contacts me after the insurance company makes a decision.

Yesterday DD and I got to church. It's hard to get ready and then walk from the car. We were just a few minutes late, so it was dark inside while the people were eall standing singing in worship. We did find seats and were glad to be there.

I had to sit down part way through, but that's okay.

This old body aches.

The babies pictures could almost confuse me. Which one is it? Star is bigger, and has a mouth full of teeth, but they truly resemble each other. Look like little sisters. I love it.

Take care, dear friend. Say hello to HiLo if you speak with her. I remember her fondly.
