My mom did not want a funeral. Her wish was to be cremated.  She was cremated directly from the hospital when she died.  When I picked up her ashes at the funeral parlor, I brought her home.  We had family and friends stop by our house on the next Saturday afternoon to pay their respects if they wanted to.  Sort of like an open house.  It worked out very well.

Hi, momtodogs......sorry to take so long...i just got back here...my aunts son handled the cremation...she was ill and when she died...he honored her wishes..no viewing..no gathering..no church service..just creamated her...took her ashes home...it was many years ago..i was just a teenager..i am 74 now...don't know where the ashes are now...

I know that sounds cold hearted...but that is what she wanted...we all understood....

Why not have a talk with your pastor about this? He might be able to help you
