@shortbreadlover   Did it occur to you that if they read the meter on the same day each month, they'd have meter readers out on week-ends and holidays?  If they were hired to work Mon-Fri that would violate their hiring agreement.  It also doesn't take into account inclement weather or periods with lots of illness.

They know what they're doing.

Exactly.

None of my utility companies read meters on the same day every month.  It always varies, and it's never bothered me in the slightest.

I'm not sure what this particular company is doing that's so terribly wrong.

Our water bills are all computerized. No human walking up and down the street opening the grate in my yard for years. It’s all on auto pay so if I don’t get a paper copy that’s ok by me. It’s read when it’s read. Doesn’t matter to me.

I don't know where you live but our meters have electronically read on the same day each month for years.  No one comes to read it.  It's made things easier and more reliable.

I get most of my bills via email.  Is that an option where you live?

It's 2019, don't the have an auto pay option?  Can you go online and print the bill?  Can you pay online?  Can you pay by phone?  I can't believe that in this day and age, you have to o old school and wait for a paper bill.

In my area, this situation is really not such a big deal.   If I didn’t receive my bill, and forgot to pay this month, that amount will be on next months bill with a $5 late charge.

Three months of no payment starts the actual letters, and service is usually cut off by the 5th month of no payment.

We only get mail here in New Orleans approx. 3 times a week. Our mail lady is overworked, according to her. We often get late charges or even no Bill but the PO doesn't seem to mind . Whatever happened to " through rain, sleet, snow hail etc?".

Our water bill is read by electronic transmission every 3 months...and it never fails, we receive that bill every 3 months.  The dates fluctuate every 3 months but usually only by 5-6 days every cycle.  Used to have a water meter readers go walking around entire city on all properties to point a reader at an outside hookup to get reading, but now they installed some kind of transmitter directly in the house so that is unnecessary and done automatically.  Like it better now because we don't have to worry about some stranger walking into yard and around house to get reading.  Never had problems with anyone doing reading, but this offers privacy on property.

This is a new community and all our utilities are read electronically.  I've never seen anyone walking the community reading meters and I've also signed up for paperless bills.  Just like Scorpio1971 I get an email and then I pay all bills online. There's the option to use auto pay but I want to know how much each bill is gonna be bc I keep tight control over my finances.
