Re: Your 'treasured memory items''?

I have a few things that I treasure but the first thing that came to mind is a little cutting board with a painted picture of a pug on it with my name engraved and my date of birth made by hand by my grandpa.   He made one for all of his granddaughters when we were born and they were all different pictures of dogs, cats, birds.........it means the world to me as I got the pug one and my grandparents always had pugs when we were young and one inparticular was my very favorite dog, ever!   Mugsey Smiley Happy

@sarahpanda  Good topic. Our house is full of furniture and other items from our families. But, one of my favorites is  my Mom's Bible. For my whole life growing up, I remember it on the stand beside her bed. She read it every night before going to bed. It now has a place of honor on a tea table in our living room. We open it to chapters pertinent to the holiday, season or family occasion. It's been there for 16 years - since she passed away. I love to stop by the table and just page through it and remember Mom and her steadfast faith.

I too have a home filled with treasures of my loved ones that I will hold onto for my lifetime.

I have Mom's wedding rings, Dad's Army bible and his dog tag, along with his harmonica.

I have the wall fruit that hung in my farm grandparents kitchen, along with their crystal candy dish and several other cut glass dishes.

I have my maternal grandparents Bibles, my first Easter pocketbook from Mamaw, the pocketbook she carried when she married Papaw in the early 1920's, along with all of her jewelry, the contents of her china cabinet, her rolling pin, and the little plate I always ate off of at their house.  A gold bangle bracelet from Papaw, his special ceramic ashtray, his desk along with a special glass piece that sat on the desk, and his family Bible.  I have my maternal aunts jewelry box, her engraved cigarette case and several pieces of Fire King bakeware I use often.  I have my maternal uncles ring that was his high school graduation gift from my grandparents.  I have 4 railroad watches from this side of my family.   I have my maternal great grandmother's pocketbook, a button from her winter coat prior to 1925, and her rolling pin.

My dad always carried a little green plastic squeeze wallet for coins.  He passed away in 2000.  His coins are still in it...all dated prior to that year.
I also have some jewelry that my mom had... given to her by my dad.   One bracelet is covered with rose shaped ivory stones. Very pretty.  True keepsakes for me.

Oh my goodness @Mombo1 !  My Dad had the same green squeeze coin holder.  I have it too with all the coins in it.  I always have it in my bag.  ❤️

@Tori3569   Wow...we don't see many of those coin holders anymore.  I think it was a common thing from that generation.  I just checked some of the coins in my dad's...and I found 2 old nickels.  One from 1969 and one from 1972.  My little 6 year old granddaughter was with me today and saw the wallet.  She said..."That is so cool"....😄

Re: Your 'treasured memory items''?

You all have some very wonderful things that remind you of loved ones.

Some bring back our memories and some maybe just a smile. But they are all in some way a part of what makes us who we are.  (Sorry for all the pix - got carried away)

Here's some of mine:

Dad's WWII Uniform. He was in the Army Air Corp - no Air Force at that time.

Mom's wedding dress

A moth-eaten yellow wool sweater that my great-grandmother knit. It was made for my Mom but she said it was too itchy to wear.

Conch shell and t-shirt my Grandmother brought me from Miami (in mid 50s)

Dancing School T-Shirt (also mid 50s)

And this cake.  It's from my baby shower and my daughter is now 41.  A close family friend made it. It's in a box in the freezer and everyone in our family knows not to ever throw it out.    LOL

@ECBG  I have my bronzed baby shoes, too. They are at the base of a frame with my baby picture.

Re: Your 'treasured memory items''?

Years ago, my mother gave me all the photos of me, going back to baby pictures. Some have my parents, siblings, cousins, aunts,

uncles and grandmothers.

I also have many of my mother's dolls and I have her engagement diamond, which I had made into a pendant that I wear often.

In the 70s my grandmother gave me all her Fiesta dishes and some lovely glasses and framed pictures.

We have furniture from parents and grandparents.

From my mother in law, I have a little Roseville Blackberry

pattern jardineire that was given to her by her mother in law in 1934.

I also have my Ginny dolls, furniture and clothes and my Toni dolls from the 1950s.

Re: Your 'treasured memory items''?

I have my  Grandmother's gold bangle bracelet embossed with her birth name initials, her tiny gold earrings that she wore when a baby, and her gold locket.

I never met her since she was murdered when she was only 24 years old.

Re: Your 'treasured memory items''?

No I really don't.  Stuff doesn't do much for me after the people are gone.  I've learned that the hard way.  I have a few things but it's all stuff.
