Our neighborhood has a parade for 4th of July but that's all....it is fun with decorated strollers, wagons, and whatever politician who is up for reelection in a fancy pickup. No neighborhood parties in the 20 plus years we have lived here.

We have had 2 block partyies where we live; everyone is from somewhere else (mostly NE and Midwest).

It's a fun way to meet new neighbors and promote neighborhood solidarity, yet be welcoming and open.

Re: Your Neighborhood

[ Edited ]

when we moved into our new home it was a new development & all the families had young children and we lived on a cul-da sac and court (per se).  We had alot of fun in those days -- loved Halloween when kids would come trick or treating!  In the fall always had a block party.  This lasted about 10 years until everyone started selling and moving away,

Last year in the Fall they organized a fall picnic when the snowbirds returned in our section.  It was $14.95/pp and it was a bomb...very few people came and those who did enjoyed it -- but, my friend said she wouldn't know "any of them" if she fell over the ones she met!

I don't think this would ever happen here ... we've had about 10 new people move in and I've never seen them except for my gf who moved across the street (and that's once in awhile because she's single and travels alot).

My friend had a block party this past weekend. What fun it was! The entire street was blocked off and at one end was a bouncy castle and at the other was a bouncy slide. About half the block had tables outside with grills and munchies abounding. Canopies were placed over the tables to provide shade when the trees did not. Kids were having a great time riding thier bikes, skateboards etc up and down the block. Every one who was invited got a wrist band that allowed the kids into the castle and slide and when the ice cream truck came only those with the bands got as much ice cream as they could eat. The day was beautiful and a great time was had by all!

we have never ever had this happen in all the places we have lived over the years.

the neighborhood we live in now neighbors don't even talk to each other.

my neighborhood is not the best. we have lived here for 30 plus years to old to move now, so the neighbors are coming and going like the weather.
