Most of my Amazon purchases are delivered by the Amazon vans now and I elected to have Thursdays as my delivery day.  I am not one of those people who must have my things immeditely.  I like getting all of my weekly purchases at one time.   On Black Friday, I ordered Christmas towels/oven mitts/valances and placemats.  I went to  Amazon.com to check on my delivery and my goodness.  There was a map of my section of town and I could see exactly where the van was and they told me that my deliver was "4 stops away" and the "three stops away" etc.  It was actually kind of fun to watch.  And then I saw the big blue dot at my house and I went to the door and waited for the driver to hand me my packages.  Now I can finish decorating the kitchen and dining room.

Kind of like watching a plane you're expecting to meet as it flies across the country and into your airport.  You've got to stop and wonder at modern technology every now and then.

I had that experience with an Amazon order last year.....very impressed....!  Watched the delivery online, then it was at the front door...   I have Tuesday set as my scheduled delivery day with Amazon!

@chrystaltree That is TOO cool!  I wish we had that!  Although I'm often out, I have never seen a van like that.

I like when Amazon sticks to that scenario, but I've had some minor issues of late wherein the map said they were a couple of stops away, only to find, a short time later, that they were suddenly in a different direction.  Did not get that delivery till the next day.  Additionally, a couple of recent Amazon purchases have been shipped by UPS.  Not happy about that, since my most recent UPS delivery didn't arrive until 10PM.  And further, I ordered three toys yesterday (Wednesday) and they are not scheduled to be here until Monday.  Not very happy with Amazon of late.

I have all my packages .... from everywhere ... delivered to "concierge-type" service available here as an optional amenity.  They also handle any shipping, notary, fax, car service, etc.  They text me when anything comes in.

I go down once a week to pick things up.  Anything heavy - they will deliver to my apt for a small additional fee.

Very convenient and well worth the money.

Last week,I ordered a couple pieces of Carolyn Pollack jewelry from Amazon. They each shipped in a huge envelope big enough to fit a blanket.Upon delivery, the person left them under my mail box curbside. Talk about porch pirate ready.Anybody walking or driving by could have picked them easily.Luckily,I just got home from work and wondered what was lying on the curb by my mailbox!!! Then he/she texted me to ask how they did with my delivery. What the what?

I do that with my Amazon Prime deliveries. I live in an apartment complex and sometimes I notice the driver appears lost and then I go outside and meet them.

I live in a Seattle suburb, and utilize Amazon Prime for just about everything, but have never heard of real time tracking such as that. I am going to call Amazon to find out if this is available in our area. We have tracking updates on the website, just not tracking like that you described.(crossing my fingers) Thanks for posting!

😊
