I've got family outside Buffalo, and they said it's surprisingly bad.

I don't know anything about how and when the Canadian fires first started (been focusing on the heat), but I saw comments on the world news tonight that those Canadian fires could last for months.

HOW is that possible?

Yes that's Mackinac Bridge. I live an hour south and yes, its very bad here. I'm going to the island for a few days next week and just hoping this smoke is gone.

The smoke is a little less today...but nothing is moving out there..

@AuntG  Mackinac island is wonderful as is the Grand Hotel! but the hotel isn't air conditioned and the smoke would be terrible. I hope it dissipates!

    Wildfire smoke is here in Williamsburg, VA.. It's probably not as bad as elsewhere but red alert. They closed all pools and cancelled the food trucks and partys.

i don't get  why  Canada cant do something about this happening.   3 yrs ago the same thing happened.   Never remember this happening in past years .  why don't they do control burns ,  I dont get it.  They have these sprawling fires and the US has  to deal with it too of course  ,  it's not  like we live with a dome above us 🤷‍♀️

@Kitty Galore I have to agree!  I don't understand why this is happening in recent years.  I never heard of sprawling wildfires affecting the US  until a few years ago when it was intense.  I can remember going outside and I suddenly though that my neighbor's house was on fire the smell was so strong.!

Why doesn't Canada do control fires?

I just got home from several days in Cape May, NJ.  It was beautiful out until Wednesday when it got hot, humid and smokey.  It got even worse yesterday but we still went out.  It was bad but wasn't extreme.

I'm home in SE, PA and it's hot and hazy but I see  a bit of blue in the sky.  It's supposed to rain over the weekend and I hope it helps to clear things up.

NW Ohio here. We've been in the purple zone since yesterday. On the airnow dot gov, the needle gets buried in the hazardous zone.

I stay inside with the A/C and the 90 deg heat outside. I was out just to water my tomatoes and flowers in pots. Got my hair cut today, but that was just from the A/C car to the salon and back.

After pulling the car into the garage, I could smell the smoke in the garage just from that short time the door was open.

I am so very lucky and blessed!

@haddon9   I know what is wrong with this. Country ?!   I too don't Remember in years past this happening this is just been very recent couple of years ago and now this year I don't understand why they don't do the controlled burns, which would certainly stop  this from happening,  or at least keep it contained .   I hope that now thst it is in Washington DC something will be done for future issues . I have to wonder are they even  trying to contain these fires?

i love Cape May ,  so beautiful there !     Haven't been in a long time.   I'm sorry  you had to put up with the smoke while on vacation . 

yesterday here it was basicly gone, blue skies, the sun was yellow, like it always is ,  not orange weird looking sun with a smoky sky in front of it, looks so eerie .  This morning it's back again!   Suppose to rain starting soon hoping that helps clear it out!   I hope we both get that rain !

@Pecky    That's what I feel too ,  it looks like the end of the world!   Like that show walking dead !  We live in upstate  NY. As well .   This morning it is back again,  yesterday it was pretty much back to normal,  blue skies no Visable smoke or smell .

Going to rain so hopefully that rids it !
