we are in upstate NY and local news sad this morning poor quality air and don't go outside if not necessary and if you do wear a mask .   In effect till midnight .   To me yesterday seemed worse it was almost like it was dusk the whole day .  The sun at least is peaking through righ now .

i don't get  why  Canada cant do something about this happening.   3 yrs ago the same thing happened.   Never remember this happening in past years .  why don't they do control burns ,  I dont get it.  They have these sprawling fires and the US has  to deal with it too of course  ,  it's not  like we live with a dome above us 🤷‍♀️

wish the government would get involved ,  although I don't know what can be done once it has started.

@mare54  I remember the fires from when we lived in Salt lake.   Every Summer the smoke along with  the Stifling heat and hot winds which kept it around longer I feel .   
At least  this 4th from what I heard from friends there the governor banned fire works .

i never understood why they were ever allowed due to being such a dry state .   Hardly ever rains as you know in the summer.

I am in Minneapolis. On the way to dinner last night to meet up with friends, I said "look at the beautiful clouds." The sky was bluer than blue and the clouds were fluffy and connected. They almost looked like a snowy mountain range.

Fast forward several hours and as we were walking out of the restaurant my husband said "FIRE!" not even thinking about the wildfires.

It was so hazy with the acrid smell of smoke in our noses. And I just now stepped out on my balcony and that smell has gotten even  worse.

I went out briefly to bring in the garbage cans here north of Chicago and it smells like burning wood or paper.

I saw a live camera view of the bridge that connects upper and lower Michigan yesterday, and it was completely cloaked in smoke. Looks miserable for any vacationers who are heading to Mackinac Island. Our index is 350 which means no one should be outside.

I am in  Pennsylvania.  The smoke is pretty bad here.  It's thick and smoky.

We spent most of the day on our boat on a lake and it was weird.  The beautiful mountains were hidden.

We actually cut our time short.  When we got off of the lake, the air was clearer in the surrounding area.

SW suburban Chicago - The wildfire clouds have been coming and going.  Sometimes yellow, sometimes clear. Air quality warning  temp is 95 now  

Outdoor concerts in my town have been cancelled into next week.

And then this afternoon the sun came out and the sky is blue with big fluffy white clouds. It is still hot (96°) but it is not stifling. What a turnaround!
