plenty of daughters would not do this or cant do this......there are other options that other "daughters" choose for many reasons.

She is on a leave. Her parents are with her and they have frail health.

The Family Medical Leave Act is a law and everyone is entitled to it.

I think this shows she is a caring daughter- I know plenty of people who don't care about Others, even their parents (only themselves) and won't help, unless they somehow benefit from it personally- One of them is my sister. I call them 'hand-washers'... because they wash their hands of any responsibility.

That is wonderful that Shawn is caring for her parents. It's unfortunate but true that many times family members don't step up to the plate when it comes to caring for ailing parents. I know a few people who have confided in me about situations where a parent was sick and how everything involving the care of the parent fell on one or two family members, others - as someone mentioned here - "washed their hands" of any responsibility. This is sad to me. And the fact that Shawn has BOTH parents not well is even more overwhelming. My thoughts are with all of them...and in the midst of a pandemic...a lot to deal with!

What an awful time to post dislike of Shawn. Like her or not she is going through a horrible experience. May God be with her and her family.

As others have said, you’d be surprised how many daughters (and sons) wouldn’t help their sick parents the way Shawn is doing. Also, you’d be surprised how many SIL’s and DIL’s wouldn’t help their spouses parents, or let them live with them, as Joe is doing. It’s very good of both of them to do this.
