Where Have You Gotten Fantistic Customer Service While Gift Shopping?

I went to the Under Armour Outlet today to get my new 13 yr. old grandson some clothes as a Christmas gift.  With a mother 5' 2", and a dad 5' 9" he isn't very tall and difficult to fit.  I was also going to have to shop in the next department up for the first time, and it all looked black, white, and gray as I looked into the assigned corner.

He doesn't have a lot of past items since their house burned down a month after Christmas last year.

I asked an associate that was about 18-20 where I should be, and she pointed it out.  I asked if she could help me and she hunted and put together what I wanted, fixture to fixture, and on the wall, discussing what would best fit my grandson.  What an amazing young lady.  I asked another associate to point out a manager, and one was standing only feet from me.  I was happy to share what a wonderful employee they had.  It turned out that she had been highly recommended by another customer today!

Ace Hardware is wonderful.  So much better than Home Depot.

Thank you for passing that along because few normally tell others when they've had a good experience in a retail store or online.

No doubt, from your description, she was very helpful and obviously, made you a happy customer and you will most likely return.

I also think good customer service involves how the store treats customers who have had problems with a purchase.  Does the retailer try to make the customer happy?  In some cases exceptions are made for very good customers or is the policy cut and dry for everyone?  The answer always "No."

Is the customer always right or is the retailer always right?  In my experience some retailers treat customers as if they are always right.  A few retailers treat customers as if they are always wrong.  Arrogant retailers act as though they are doing shoppers a favor by selling things to them instead of being thankful customers buy from them.

To answer your question, I've done a lot of shopping over the years in many different stores and online.  Of the brick and mortar stores, those that treated me with the utmost respect, bending over backwards to make me happy, were Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Of the online retailers, it has been Bloomingdales and Walmart.  I was amazed with all of them at how much they wanted to keep me as a customer.  With Bloomingdales, the CS agent was apologetic because I was unable to print out their label for a return.  At Walmart, it was someone putting items in two boxes I didn't order.

All of the apologies were for my inconvenience!  Some retailers don't know what the word "inconvenience" means.  I'd expect the same treatment from NM and Saks online, but I haven't had any problems so far.

I don't do much b&m shopping now but I would think that stores would be going the extra mile to treat their customers with care and respect because a good shopping experience translates into repeat business.  Also, just as you are doing, shoppers share good experiences with friends and family.  It was good of you let the manager know what a good a employee he has.

My local Lego Store in my mall.  Whether I'm shopping for Christmas, birthdays, or there with my daughter.  They always go out of there way to help me.

@chrystaltree As you know, I'm in a mountain community.  Although we have been effected by people moving here from other places, these young adults are just good kids.  This young ladie's personality reminded me of the students I had that just loved family and everyone.  She was lovely.

I've had fantastic service from Zulily.  I've shopped there for four years, a lot before Qurate bought them and ruined their merchandise choices.  Anyeay, I've called a couple times just to complain about minor things wrong with an item, usually shoes, only to have them refund the entire purchase price.
