Re: Whenever you Rent a Car ...

I've always used Enterprise but usuaally declined their insurance as Amex has coverage.

I am going to check Amex before I rent again as their total loss coverage was limited to $50k.  You total a premium rental it will be more than that, I'm sure.

"Would you be renting a car if you didn't have an accident ?  It doesn't make sense otherwise."

Yes, I would and do.

I rent cars when I take a holiday or need to travel a distance 100 miles plus.

I put the wear and tear on the rental car.

Besides owning a home a vehicle is usually your most expensive outlay.
I'm by myself and don't plan on buying a new or used car every few years, I own mine until it drops dead.
I'm 72 and this will be my last car ownership.

Exactly!  I feel the same way.
I bought my car a little over a year ago, and at age 72, decided it would be my LAST auto purchase.
