In Texas? Not all that often.

In the upper Midwest, heat is usually required by the end of September. Right now, we're running ten degrees above average, so our thermostat is set for cooling.

I would guess we've run the a/c in 11 out of 12 months in the year. I am positive we have run it at times in Dec., usually have it on sometime around Thanksgiving. Not sure about January, but I'd guess in February too some years.

My depends on the temps. I did not keep the house too cold this summer because I am gone during the day and keep blinds closed also. I am trying to save on the electric bill and during the winter I will bundle up and keep the temperature lower. I don't like to sleep with it too hot anyway.
Trying to save where I can but also be comfortable too.

I have an extraordinary, continually raining going on now, and humidity factor here too. Just wondering..
@JoyFilled Warrior we don't have central AC and haven't for many years a portable AC is used mostly in our master bedroom and our 4 season patio room as and hvac we go by the outside temperature and use commercial grade fans much of the time in summer and 85° is comfortable for us

I last used my portable AC this past Tuesday---had temps in the 90s here, near Seattle---but was able to not use it at night as it cooled way down. Crazy weather here, was warm yesterday but today, very chilly, and very seasonal the rest of the week, with cool nights--I may wait until Oct to unhook it all--just in case.

I live in the Midlands of South Carolina...and we can go back & forth all year long. We might have 80's for Thankgiving or Christmas--or 30's! I think it was about 5-6 years ago that it turned very cold at the end of October, and rarely let up until spring.
Just this past July, we had mostly days of 95+ temps, August not above high 80's. Today is 89, supposed to be 90 Friday/Sat. Then back to high 80's.
Been this way since I was a kid!
As to the setting A/C is 71, heat is 68.

Midwest here, and our AC will probably go off after this week. Next week is supposed to be 70's and cloudy, so no use for it. By late October we usually have heat on at night anyways... All depends on our weather-this week it was warm and somewhat humid, so we had our air on..
