I weighed my self this morning for the first time since my jaw surgery in August. I have gained 17 lbs. just from being able to eat normally again. I wouldn’t say I over eat at all. Just the fact I can take regular bites I am getting more nutrition. It’s a good thing I was under 100 lbs before surgery. I have actually had to buy a couple more pair of jeans.

It seems usually after first several weeks of surgery there is a weight loss.
Than after you start to heal it seems like your body just craves food.
I always thinks the body is begging for nutrients and protein. So I usually try to take a ton of vitamins and hope that my appetite will subside.
Seems like you were too tiny so glad you are doing better.
There is always a process after any surgery.

For me I didn’t really crave things. But I did find it awesome to be able to eat things I haven’t been able to eat in 15 years because of my jaw being locked.

I had knee replacement surgery in December, then came down with C-diff, a miserable intestinal infection that can come with antibiotic therapy. During the first week of the bug, I lived on toast and crackers with jam. As I started feeling better, I started eating more. I finally got on the scale this week. In total,I am down two aand a half pounds, not a big deal at all. In my case, I would like to have lost more, but I’m happy to be feeling better..

@ccassaday you sound very tiny and it is always good to have a couple of spare pounds.Just eat mostly food that is from the circumference of the grocery store and you will be eating a healthy diet.

@dex - after reading your post, I pictured our grocery store and with the exception of produce being in the front of the store, the rest of it is not good!
Where I shop, the good stuff is in the middle of the store.

Good for you. It sounds like you are doing fine. It must be nice to be able to eat food once again
