Some of us "seasoned citizens" have talents and skills beyond the imagination of the younger generation.

We can also write a check, a letter (business or personal) and a thank-you note. I can even drive a stick shift and bake a cake from a scratch.

We can also name all 50 states, name the oceans on the east and west coasts and name the two countries that border us, and know why we celebrate on the 4th of July. Too bad geography and history are no longer taught in most schools because a lot of kids can't name these things!

@jannabelle1 and @Kachina624, we can also. name the capitals of those states, along with reading a folded paper map of the roads and highways in those states and arriving at our destinations without reliance on a GPS device. And we can use an electric or non-electric typewriter to turn out hard copies of those business letters without the use of a device called a printer.  We can also make a phone call on a rotary or touch tone phone that does not require an out-sized monthly fee.  And most of us can cook great meals from scratch, using real food ingredients. I am a proud low-tech little old lady!

I am a seasoned citizen and can do most if not all of the things mentioned in the posts and agree more geography and history should be taught in schools.

But I can also do Instragram and X (formally Twitter) use a smart phone and embrace new technology.  A lot of the things listed I learned at home from Mom and Dad. If something makes sense, easier and more secure I'm all over it.  Honer the past and embrace the future.

@mspatmac.  Yes most of us can do the old stuff and most of the "techy" stuff too.  We're undoubtedly the last of our breed to be able to do so.

I can read hard copy books.  But I'll be damned if I will when I can keep all my books on my reader.... forever.
