This is a discussion board and the topic of this thread is (im)proper grammar usage. What does your post that life is short and being positive have to do with it?

People have spirited conversations all the time.  People have different opinions.  So what?

The "if you can't say anything nice don't say anything" nonsense is for 8-year-olds whose mothers are trying to politely tell them to s hut up.

Grown-ups can express different views here, whether you like it or not.   No need to try to change the discussion because you don't like it.

Here's an idea .....  If a conversation isn't for you, just move along to the next conversation.  Easy-peasy.

Ok, well my petty gripe is "it's got"  when describing whatever they're peddling.  It doesn't got, it has.  And,  no, I don't lose sleep over it.

@Biftu    I agree.  It is so redundant.  Underneath speaks for itself.   I am surprised how many hosts say that.

@Teddixat

They probably say it because it was brought up in one of their sales meetings and they were told to work it into their commentary.

That's my guess.

I agree and felt like we were being scolded for discussing it.

Re: Underneath Of

  There was a time when people who worked in communications fields took communications courses in college. Newscasters, meteorologists, TV and radio announcers used proper grammar and had knowledge of proper English language usage and learned voice modulation.

 If anyone should have elevated communication skills, it should be the people whose careers are in communication fields.

Many things that I hear on TV today, make me cringe. I hear so much incorrect grammar from adults who should know better. I still hear I and me used incorrectly, by many. It is so

annoying.

 I raised five children and they all have good communication skills and know how to use proper grammar.

 I don't understand how ignorance has become acceptable.

 All part of the dumbing down of America. Smiley Sad
