Has anyone every used the TooGoodToGo app?

This app works almost every where in the USA, but especially near big cities and where there are a lot of restaurants and bakeries.

Business pack up their left over food each day and sell it for almost nothing instead of tossing it out.  It is a win-win.  It keeps good food out of the landfill and brings in new customers who might like to try a new place.

Last weekend, I tried it at an Italian bakery and got a large bag of  items which included pizza, anachini, cookies, and a few pasteries for 6.99.

My grands were visiting and they went through it fast.

There aren't too many participating places in my area, but I looked in the big cities around me, and they had so many choices.

You might want to check it out.  I forget to mention. You might have to check back often.  The food sells out fast and it doesn't sit around.

In my area, the food is listed the night before for pickup the next day. You never know what will be in the bag..it's different every time and once in a while, they sell out and there is nothing to give you...so they e-mail you and refund your money.

That is a great idea for everyone. Those that are struggling to buy food for their family should use this app. What a wonderful way to keep food from being thrown out. Thank you for your information.

@Carmie.  I was curious so I downloaded the app.  It appears Whole Foods, 12 miles away through traffic, appears to be the only partcipant so I ditched it.  Thanks for the mention though.

@Kachina624   This app doesn't list places that currently have no food available.

Sometimes there are zero places and a few hours later, there may be ten places.

There are two places in my area that list every day and a few more places that only list a few times a week.

It is a hit or miss.  I think over time, more businesses will join.  I think the app is kinda a new idea.

Another app that lists grocery stores that offer discounted foods is FLASHFOOD. That app is always active and loaded.  Better to check early in the day because food sells out fast.

@Carmie This feel good story warmed my heart, and is a BRILLIANT idea!💝 What an INSPIRING program to help aid in the fight against food insecurity for some, and needless grocery waste by local businesses, while SAVING money!!!😊! This is a win-win and such a tremendous BLESSING to those communities that are fortunate enough to participate!👍 It is heartwarming to know that MANY individuals and families will benefit from it!❤ I think I am going to reach out in my community to see if they need more volunteers to help, and possibly save on MY grocery or restaurant dining budget!😊

THANK you so much for posting this Carmie! I cannot wait to share this vital information with others!!🥰

It doesn't appear to have any participants in our area but is a terrific idea. Will keep checking, it's needed in this area.

There is nothing to lose by speaking with store managers in your area to let them know about this option. It would benefit them to get something rather than throwing leftovers out and get nothing.
