It depends on what it is and how bad I need or want to know.

I like knowing the answer. Googling is easy.

Having investigated fraud for 20 years, I know people have to be cautious.

Be sure to rely on reputable sites for answers/information. A lot of the search results will be bogus and start tracking, scams, spam info, etc.

If you click on unknown sites be sure to clear your cookies, history, and cache afterwards. It's not a safety guarantee but can help.

Google, Facebook, etc etc, skew responses to how you usually search. For example, if you are a far right thinker and that's what you've searched in the past, it'll give you more far right responses rather than neutral facts and data.

Google can be useful.  Pretty sure cameras have tracked my driving, stores know foods I buy and some busy elf somewhere knows my bra size.  After a while, who cares?  Then there is messaging on the phone.....

I love looking up things! Makes my day.  I wish I knew how to use different forms of AI and search engines.

My uncle was at the liberation of a concentration camp and my neice did some sort of search and came up with all the battles, engagements, etc that he must have been in.

Re: To Google or Not

[ Edited ]

I search the internet constantly.   I often do it after reading something here about a movie, personality, historical event or place I'm not familiar with and always want to do more research.

Frequently a news story mentioned here is just a headline,  so if interested I investigate the facts in more detail.

Being uninformed or remaining in the dark is a concept I don't relate to.  I can't imagine not Googling or searching in some way!

It takes 10 seconds (give or take) to google something and get an answer.....hardly a waste of my time.
