I happen to non-Google for another reason .... privacy. The collection of information about us that is gathered over time is unbelievable.

When I read that if you Googled something in 2003, there is a record of it. I'm sure that prosecutors proving serious crimes are happy to be able to access whether that thug searched "how to hide a body" or some other thing.

I use DuckDuck Go. No tracing or tracking.

Maybe it's because I've always been a bit of a privacy nut, but tidbits of information are just out there all over .... and companies are SELLING what they know about us.

Doesn't sit well with me at all.

I have nothing to hide @Tinkrbl44 . Haven't done anything illegal.

@monicakm - It's actually called The King's Soup, from The Lady's Companion, a cookbook published in 1753 owned by Martha Washington. Some of the ingredients are onions, butter, and mace. No peanuts.

I had to Google mace. There is one store around us that supposedly has it, but it's pricey.

I would like to make it though. We're still working on New Year's leftovers!

I often remark that being able to find the answer to almost any question you might have about virtually anything is still mind boggling to me.

My biggest problem about Googling is that often I will say "I have to Google that" and by the time I get to my computer I have (more often than I would like to admit) forgotten what I wanted to search.

Ah those senior moments.........

I also google a lot and anyone who wanted to take the time to go back through my searches would be bored to tears.

@beach-mom. I, too, am very familiar with the rabbit hole. You can spend hours just chasing interesting information. We may not get much done, but we know our trivia.

I use a laptop computer, Google often; not believing everything I read. After AI pops up, I check other links to get a well-rounded informative answer.

Google does attempt to track, so I have had Malware Plus for several years protecting tracking from site to site, purchase to purchase, nefarious lookie-loos, cookies and my device info. So, it is not much use for Google's attempts. I never accept cookiese on a sit, so sometimes access is blocked. Fine by me!

Any user can manage, limit, or turn off many of these trackers in their Google account settings, if you have one.

As an aside -- for shopping (only) I use an anonymous email address to reduce spam or my email address being passed onto other spammers. This type of email address is usually used temporarily, but I've used it for years. Zero spam. Sometimes a seller will not accept this type of email address because they can't then further spam you. Again, fine by me! TA-TA.
