Took my queen size comforter to the laundromat.  I have not used a laundromat in several years.  I though I was going to wash it there myself, but when I started looking at the machines, instructions, etc. I must of looked a little bit overwhelmed and the employee said they offer a service where you can leave it with them and they will wash and dry it for you and it will be ready for pick-up later the same day.

I said that sounds good and decided to go home and do some other "getting ready for spring" projects.

The price for cleaning and drying it was $20.  Should I have given the girl a tip?    I did not think to do so at the time, but thought about it later.  She is not the owner.

No.

Tipping is for pickup and delivery.

I tip everybody all the time. I did so many service jobs as a young  person that I appreciate what they do. I also love the happy reactions I get for a small amount of money. For example, when I go to get coffee at the donut shop I tip a dollar. I give the person that pumps my gas enough to get hot coffee in the winter or iced coffee in the summer. They are always glad to get even that small amount of money. They tend to remember me when I return, too. But i's the thanks and the smiles that I really get a kick out of.

I dont tip people tha give me terrible service but most others.

Don't feel guilty -- most people don't know when or what to tip. You could drop in some day and give her a few biucks or could call the owner/manager of the laundromat and say what great customer servce because of that employee. That's one of the best ways to say thanks. I find, too, that the boss is just as happy to hear that the customer is pleased.

I had a young guy spray my house for carpenter ants.He was great and did a good job. After he left I thought I should have tipped him so I called the company for his name and sent him a card and tip.He called me when he received it to thank me and said the card alone made his day but the extra cash sure was nice too.

I think you already tipped as $20 to wash and dry a queen size comforter seems kinda high. If the total amount had been lower then I would have tipped a couple of dollars!

I would have tipped $4.00 for her time and trouble. She probably makes minimum wage and certainly made your life much easier. I always have the attendant take care of my large comforters because I know their machines are cleaner than those used by the public! It's a small price to pay for cleanliness and my time.

In a situation where they have "my stuff," I tip before, when I drop it off and if it's a different person when I pick it up, I tip as well.

I do that with valet parking.  I want them to take care of my stuff.
