I agree, Sweet Serenity-- there was a magical chemistry between those two in that movie.  Love the scene where Katie excitedly prepares her little apartment, gets food etc. for Hubble's visit.  Been there!   Also of course that final bittersweet scene between them on a New York street.

When she brushed his hair away....improvised. So glad they never revisted with sequel. Wouldn't have been the same. Forever perfect!

SPOILER IN THIS RESPONSE....

Great movie!!

I saw it in theater when it first came out and I couldn't understand why Streisand's character just didn't change for Hubbell.  I mean OMG, Redford was gorgeous and that fact that Stresisand wanted to continue fighting for causes just set my teeth on edge.

But......now that I'm older and have many life experiences, I totally understand why they went their separate ways.  It would have never worked - just 2 totally different idealogies and 2 different approaches to how each of them wants to live.

I adore this movie also.  I keep it on my DVR.  I bet I watch it once a month!
