Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

My standard line is----online...somewhere---usually don't get asked where online.

Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

When someone asks that question, it doesn't bother me at all.  I am never embarrassed to tell them where I purchased it.  I enjoy resales and thrifting, and when I get something really cool, I am happy to share!

Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

It used to be when someone complimented me on something I'm wearing I would say thank you and blurt out where I got it from, then I quit volunteering that info unless it was asked.  What I find really rude is when someone asks, how much did you pay for it, I just ignore the question, so classless to ask that.

Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

I had an irritating woman always ask "Where did you get it and how much did you pay"?

I was annoying because she always stated I paid too much.  Some things were given to me.

I no longer have anything to do with her and I'm very happy that I don't.

If someone is interested enough to compliment me and be interested in knowing where I purchased something, I gladly tell them.

Me too! - I truly don't care what people think about where I shop.

I have friends and acquaintences who are Walmart and Dollar Tree "snobs"

I proudly let them know, when they compliment or inquire about one of my purchases, that it came from one of those (above-mentioned)  "low-class" businesses. Smiley Tongue Smiley Wink

Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

When we had our home built and chose the backsplash for the kitchen someone who is a former friend copied it and put it in her kitchen. I discovered that when I was invited over and I didn’t feel complimented. I thought, why did you have to do that. Aren’t there enough choices you could have done on your own?

Re: The Question: Where Did You Get That?

Way back I used to have a friend that would ask me constantly where I got an item of clothing or shoes I was wearing, then the next thing you know, she would turn around and buy the same thing!  After awhile, I started saying - you know, I just don't recall, or it was a gift, so I don't know where it came from.  I think it's nice to get sincere compliments, but I think it's rude for people to constantly ask where you bought a certain thing or even how much you paid for it.  If I want to tell someone this information, I will volunteer it!

I dont even think of hiding shopping info. I actually probably overshare. I dont understand the thinking behind wanting to do so. Im not fancy and Im proud of deals I do research and find.   My small group of family and friends are not snarky, rude or jealous. Shopping doesnt matter to us that much.

Same here @LizzieInSRQ .  I don't hide any shopping info.  I don't understand why it would be a secret.

Same for me- Sometimes I say, sometimes not!  I'll often rely on TJMax, because it's pretty much hit or Miss there! A harmless fib.... 🤣

When I was in high school, there was one girl that asked me where I bought a blouse I had on that day.  I foolishly told her the name of the store.  Two days later she came to school wearing the same blouse in a different color.  I didn't say a word but I knew she was waiting for me to say something.  So the next time she asked me the same question, I told her my mother bought it in New York. After a couple of times she finally gave up. I don't know why I still remember that!

I would get a kick out of someone buying something I already wore in another color.  I must have looked good in it for someone to go out and buy the same thing!
