👋
Pretty day here today.

Looking at maybe moving this fall. Lots to figure out. 👀

@bikerbabe

Funny you should mention a move.  BH and I were discussing that today.

We've stayed here because of my job.  What if I retire?  The only requirements for us are Internet and healthcare access.  It's nice to have a Cancer Center close to us, but it's not crucial.

Need to do a little research.

Sounds like a move has been long overdue for you. Woman Wink

Assuming I still have a tv and house tomorrow after tonight's expected storms, I think I'll be watching the Band of Brothers marathon on AMC.

Speaking of big decisions, I'm drowning in Medicare mail.

I keep thinking that, if I put off getting Medicare and Social Security, it'll just disappear and I won't have to decide the whats and whens.

But it sounds like there's a window for Medicare and if you don't make a decision, you're penalized.

So I have only a few months before I have to commit to some plan.

As for Social Security, an older coworker started collecting at age 62 and wonders why I'm not collecting mine.  I'd always associated it with retirement, so I haven't even thought about it.

Again, if I wait, the decision will be made for me...

@just bee

Hmmm.  I missed this.

Yes, definitely sign up for Medicare when you're first eligible.  That's a must.  But if you're still working and have a good health care plan, you may not have to get a supplemental plan at that same time.  You need to talk to a Medicare specialist.  I was never in that situation and the rules change all the time so I have no idea about what's going on now.

As for Social Security, that's a personal decision too.  I was going to wait, but when I went in to the SS office to sign up for Medicare the gal we spoke to said the same thing, "Why aren't your signing up for Social Security too?"  Well, because at that time we didn't need the money and I figured I'd get more if I waited.  She crunched some numbers and figured I would get more than I had planned taking it early than what I had calculated on the website taking it later.  And she backdated it somehow so I got extra months.  I was positive she goofed and I would be called on the carpet by the IRS or some other scary government office, but nope.

Definitely find an expert to talk to about it all, after you've done some of your own research and talk to BH about your future possibilities.

The Great Escape.  I always forget how much I enjoy this movie until I watch it again.

No, it actually helped quite a bit.  It made me look up my actual retirement age. Woman LOL

One of my all-time favorites.  I listed it on the "favorite American movies" thread.

Tremendous cast.

The music has stuck in my head since I first saw it as a kid.
