I was thinking the same thing.
And now I want melon. Lots of melon.

Universal truths.
For some reason, people have universal truths that are not quite in line with others' universal truths.
If these are, in fact, universal truths, wouldn't we all have the same truths?
If someone had asked me about universal truths forty years ago, I probably would have said something like:
Death, taxes, acne. All facts of life, all inevitable.
Then there's this:
Expect the worst. You'll never be disappointed.
But you know what? Some people aren't taxed as much as others. Some people don't have to deal with acne. Some people expect the worst but the worst just doesn't happen.
Sometimes we have to revise our truths.
I tend to dismiss the "my truth" versus "your truth" view.
If something is true, and true universally, it should be true for everyone. Right?
I've thought about it and I've decided that my universal truths come straight from House.
Pretty simple stuff.
Everybody dies.
Can't really argue with that.
Everybody lies.
Can't really argue with that, either.
So that's what I'm going with these days.

Geez, your mood sounds as foul as mine has been lately.
Bad news from the vet?
Yeah, I'm thinkin' I'm going to be somewhat foul the rest of the year.
News from the vet wasn't so bad. We'll see her again next month to check his kidneys. No UTI today. We'll give him his meds and keep an eye on his behavior.
He wants his lunch now.

I was taught that there are no absolutes and that the exception proves the rule.
Therefore, there are no universal truths. How can we know that everyone dies?

I think you're absolutely right!☺️

I think it's absolutely true that I'm not going to get the package today that they said was out for delivery this morning.😠
