I have seen it this weekend and have tomorrow to go still!
Stores that sell more to mid-older adults were almost empty, where children's clothing stores, Under Armour, Cole Haan, Lilly Pulizer and the Dillards Outlet was full of shoppers with no fear!!!
Retail Dillards (all they offer is an extra 30% off of a few low to mid brands), and Belk at the main mall were dead in the water. The highway with the mall, Lowes Home Improvement and Supply, Best Buy, and BB&B were almost empty highways.
I think with all of the news coverage, people are staying in. Also, some standing in lines were not social distancing.
What was the shopping climate where you live?

Malls are jammed

Wouldn't know.
Haven't been to a shopping mall since maybe 2014? 🤤

Stayed home and ordered online yesterday, including from the Q, where I actually found some good prices along with the free shipping and 10% cash back from Rakuten.
Today I went to Marshalls/ HomeGoods. They opened at 8 a.m. I got there at 8;30 and was told by an associate that I had the whole well-stocked store to myself! Delightful way to shop and I picked up a couple of things.

These in-person shoppers just don't care about other people.

Disagree. Some people can see the situation for what it is. Just because you can't doesn't mean they don't care.

Don't know who or what stores sell to older people. ??? (Thought you worked in retail....geared to older women?)
Am guessing you, too, were at the mall to notice what stores were full and what stores were empty. ???
I personally wouldn't have chanced it.

@ECBG I am not at all surprised. Although I don’t see hundreds of us a week as I used to when I could play live duplicate bridge in studios, I have played cards with friends in small groups over the last 5 months. Haven’t seen one new item of clothing on any of the women nor have any talked about buying any even online.
Further, I believe it’s by choice not by financial necessity that many in this age group have stopped accumulating right now. I know that’s true among those I have seen this season.

@ECBG I haven't been to the mall since the cases started going up. Then the shooting in the big Atlanta mall clinched it. I haven't even gone on cooler mornings for my hour walk.
The last weeks I DID go, the teen groups were not being great about wearing their masks...some under their nose or pulled up so they could stay on their phones. I had to stay clear of any eating places, even coffee stops because folks were unmasked. It was just a pain in the bu*t.
The stores were piled high w/ merchandise. Have no idea how they'll sell it all. Online is the safest way to go. The news said even Santa is in a plexiglass bubble. Now that's a sign of the times.

Our store is unbelieveably safe. Masks to enter. Period. Corporate mandated. The cash wrap as well as dressing rooms are completely wiped down after every customer.
I was only in Dillards. Their sales are nothing to write home about, never have been.
The shocklingly light traffic was what got me.
