The thought that you can never relax in your own backyard or even fall asleep on a lounge chair is unsettling.  Just knowing what lurks around would keep me on high alert.

I was sitting at the pool when I lived in Central Texas and noticed one coming through the wrought iron fence surrounding the pool area.  The development was very rugged at the time, rattlesnakes ect.  The tarantula was moving fast to the pool where my young son and his friends were swimming.  I got up from the chaise lounge I was sitting on and knocked the heck out of it with my paperback book I was reading.  It went flying back over the fence. 

Needless to say I like living back in East Texas and have never seen a tarantula here.

Your story is exactly what I would expect to see in the area where you live.  When I finished your story I felt like I had creepy crawlers all over me.

I sincerely hope the spiders do not show up in southern WV!  I've already had more critter surprises this month to last me a long time!   2 small black snakes in the basement, garter snake inside an exterminator placed bait box, a bear killed half my neighbors chickens and their coop is about 20 ft from my bedroom on the other side of the trees, as well as opossums and a family of raccoons (6) in the backyard every night.  Wood spiders show up in September and Asian beetles in August; please, nothing else!
