Well Q friends,I think I over did it today at work.Went home with my wrist screaming in pain.I had alot of processing, and boy am I paying for it.I have read, and told,it can take up to a full year for a full recovery.Holy Cow,my patience will not hold out for that long.Trying not to whine, and truley happy to be back at work,I just think I probably should have took it slower when at work.
Hope everyone else had a great Wed.

Sorry to hear that you have pain now. Would a brace help until there's further healing?

@Desert Lily Yes,I wear a splint, but the dog gone thing rubs me raw on wrist part.I have tried putting soft clothes in between, but not much relief.

@Luvsmyfam Could your doctor have a different style for you?

@Luvsmyfam. Maybe you need to speak to your doctor about some physical/occupational therapy. They can tell you how to do your job duties without stressing your arm.

@Kachina624 I have my last Ortho Dr visit next week, and going to inquire about this

I wore a gauze type sleeve under my splint and didn't have trouble with rubbing. They are inexpensive and you can buy on Amazon. I had physical therapy after I broke bones in my hand and that is what they recommended to use.
I also started my library career processing books and know there is a lot of repetitive movement involved. And you have to have good hand/finger mobility to do it. Can you do different jobs during your work time that don't involve a long stint of processing?
According to ADA (Americans disability act) your employer has to make accommodations for your needs. I would talk to your HR person and see if they can adapt your work duties for you.
I would take an ice pack with you to work and use it as needed. My orthopedic doctor told me it would take six months for my bones to heal and after four months I still have problems if I use my hand too much. I keep an ice pack in the freezer or one of the disposable instant ones on hand when I go somewhere.
Good luck!

Maybe you can try to do the majority of the lifting with your good arm?

@Luvsmyfam. Take something for pain before going to work.

I'm not exactly sure what you did, but I have RA and am well-versed in topical pain relievers. Check out both Aspercreme or Salon Pas creams or roll on pain relievers with lidocaine. It'll reduce the pain by about 35-40% and you won't need to take as many Advil or whatever. It really makes a difference. Apply it before work, but also at bedtime.
Personally, I prefer the roll on because you can be very precise iwth application. With creams it's a little more messy unless your hands also need the cream.
Hope the pain subsides. ![]()
