Not to mention when you insult, you are insulting a culture. @FancyPhillyshopper That is sad. Culture is everything for all of us. It is our core. We may not understand it, or appreciate it, but we should respect it.

@Shanus I wasn't planning on watching it, but since there was nothing else on the news channels, I watched nearly everything with DH. I have to say, it was very interesting and really kind of fun to watch. It was astounding how orderly everything was and how civil everyone was. During the coronation ceremony and church service, I kept thinking I would probably have to leave to go to the bathroom!

ETA: DH was more excited about the spectacle than I was. He's a historian.

Quoting Town & Country, they say, according to BBC, they were simply a choice by the King and made by Gaziano & Girling.

An interesting tidbit from the article:

“In the past, it has been reported that the monarch is no snob when it comes to rewearing shoes until worn down (in true oldmoney fashion). Back in 2018 during his tour in Australia, King Charles III admitted to rewearing a pair of mahogany brogues that he bought in 1971. "I have always believed in trying to keep as many of my clothes and shoes going for as long as possible," he told the Australian Financial Review Magazine. "Through patches and repairs, and in this way I tend to be in fashion once every 25 years." 🤣

Comparing the amount of money spent on the coronation and money spent at QVC is RIDICULOUS. One has NOTHING to do with the other. SMH.

Apples and orange comparison!! What individuals decide to spend their own money on is their business but the taxpayers in England are paying for most of all that nonsense while the economy there is tanking and 1 in 5 UK citizens live in poverty!! Just the security alone is around a hundred thousand!! UK government (taxpayers) pay for the bulk of it!! Do some research. Taxes are way high there also!
