They actually make money from tourism on the royal family, including the coronation. It’s a net gain to the economy.

But it their choice and their history, isn’t it?

Yes, it is, and we Americans have no say. Judging by the crowds watching outside in the rain. They love the royal family.

Regardless of your feelings about the monarchy,  you have to appreciate the history and pageantry.

As to the poster who said it was dull, like watching paint dry, please enlighten us on the exciting day you have planned.

I also found it to be like watching paint dry. If you like it, great. Others might not like it.  While I'm a fan of some snark, this one doesn't cut it.

This is our history, too. (I mean, from long ago, and possibly/probably even now.)

I tuned in late. The music was second to none. The one rendition of their national anthem was the most beautiful I ever heard.

Other than that, all I can do is shake my head; I certainly do not understand the adulation.

No thanks to watcning!!  All that money wasted on that ceremonial nonsense with those ridiculous titles bestowed could be better spent!  But for those watching and like it - enjoy!

@Pook Does watching QVC and all that money wasted bother you?  Money we could all better spend?  Gotta factor that in.

Apples and orange comparison!!  What individuals decide to spend their own money on is their business but the taxpayers in England are paying for most of all that nonsense while the economy there is tanking and 1 in 5 UK citizens live in poverty!!  Just the security alone is around a hundred thousand!!  UK government (taxpayers) pay for the bulk of it!!  Do some research.  Taxes are way high there also!

Well if you want apples to apples ..... American taxpayers are currently paying millions  upon millions of dollars to house and feed those who choose to break the law and cross the borders.  This whiles millions of US citizens are homeless, hungry and living in poverty.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

Considering who posted that nonsense not worth replying !!  BUT apples/oranges comparison as what she is referencing is not a pomp and circumstance event here!!
