No i am not supersitious--- except when something unexpected happens to me that is in my favor--either money wise or ending up not having to pay for something that normally I do--I make sure to pay it forward  by donating to a charity that will help others--it's karma that I believe in, good and bad----what you do, right or wrong, will come back to you, right or wrong.

My granddaughter informed me earlier today that I am very superstitious.

I am not! (knocks on wood).

Anybody else here accused of being superstitious?

@Malcontent

Nope!

Not at all and no one has ever accused me of being superstitious.  My Nana had some superstitious but that was way back when I was a kid.

YES, I'm superstitious. I won't walk under a ladder. Oh wait, I take it back, that's just common sense.

Yes, but not to the extent that my Mother was.

Can't open an umbrella in the house, itching palms mean getting money, ears burning means someone was talking about you, spill pepper shaker and you'll get in an argument. And I'm sure there's more I can't remember.

The only superstition is knock wood.

Hope this isn't off topic because I'm not sure if this is a superstition or old wives tale, but being from Maryland originally,  people would always say you can't make crab soup during a thunderstorm.   It will spoil.  Has anyone heard of this?

I think you can jinx something by calling too much attention to something. Years ago my husband was casually talking about how lucky I was to have my parents in good health. My mother was in her late 80's and my dad 80. My mother kept house and my dad was selling bikes at the swap meet. The following weekend my mom broke her hip and few days later my dad had a seizure in the neighbor's yard. They were in a nursing home for two months. My dad was diagnosed with brain cancer and died. My mom came to live me for nine months but her mild Alzheimer's got worse and she died. My husband should have not have said a word.

Re: Superstitious

[ Edited ]

@Pixie12  I'm sorry you went through this.

Slightly different, but along the same lines, my mother used to tell me to never use a fake illness to politely back out of an event, it just might come true.

I can't say I've never done it, but I still think about what she said.

No....I'm not superstitious at all so I've never been accused of it.
