There are knuckleheads in every business...Starbucks has apologized every time it's happened & stated that Starbucks supports the police.

It only took one incident of another type for Starbucks to shut their stores down for retraining...think they need to do it again so the employees can learn that  all customers deserve respectful service?

Starbucks said they did that to get all stores on the same page...I thought it was ridiculous but I don't run the company. Starbucks staff is mostly college age students & the employees that are disrespectful  to police officers get their information from other knuckleheads & I'm sure you know who they are. I'll also add that some police officers aren't qualified to do a very important  job. If people want to boycott that's fine with me but my post stating that Starbucks has apologized & supports the police is part of the story too.

I've noticed that some people get really really really triggered by stories about police being questioned, criticized, or disrespected in any way. It's a very sensitive subject and I think that should be respected. I don't think there is anything Starbucks could do to please them, so I guess they will just boycot and feel good about doing that. If that makes them happy and they feel it is a show of support for their personal values, I think that is great. I hope doing so gives them the peace they want.

I still like my cold brew and my vanilla latte, though. Granted, local coffee shops are more fun to hang out in, so I prefer them when I'm not in a hurry. It mainly depends on what is easily available when I want/need my coffee fix.

While I like a couple cups of Joe each, ain't no way I would ever spend $4-$5 for any cup of it. My wife drinks their "latte(?)" and it's around $6. I bought her a commercial type brewer and now she makes them almost exclusively at home. That machine paid for itself in a short time.

The guy that heads that business, for me, is too far out there on his anti-police actions. They never had me as a customer so I can't stop going.

This whole anti-police kinda movement is short sighted and down right ridiculous. Seems to me the word "discrimination" fits these types of actions, no?

@dex.  This is a very unfair statement to make without explaining or citing examples.  Are you sure you're not referring to one person at one lication?  Generalizations are not good logic.

With all due respect and I don't think you meant this statement the way it sounds to me, but being disrespected by a coffee franchise is the last thing that would deter someone from becoming a police officer.

I read a news article and saw video yesterday of a police officer who was shot in  the head 4 times and killed, while sitting in his patrol car in front of the police station.

It's believed that the man who shot him didn't even know him, he was just walking by and decided to shoot and kill him.

THIS is what would make someone think twice about a career in law enforcement, IMO.

@KingstonsMom @I believe all of these behaviors contribute..when my dh was in law enforcement they were respected as was the fire department. These were the peo0ke we call when we need help in out worst moments. They were all welcomed in coffee shops or wherever they visited in those days.

I understand, I'm from a law enforcement family too, FBI, and you're right, all of these behaviors have had a cumulative affect.

Not wise to make generalizations about anyone. If a person does not believe others have good intent and good faith behind their words, and if a person is not curious about what others have to say and why, there is no purpose in trying to have a discussion.

With all due respect and color me stupid, but I don't understand your response above to @hckynut at all.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't 'get' your point, no offense intended whatsoever.
